I will of course be investing in lessons Jan- March as always ( my Bday is in Jan and it's an easy gift option for HID) but I am going to be spending this winter putting up and down the hallway in a bid to sharpen this part of my game.

A new swing path in 2015 has worked wonders, and my approach shots and Par3 accuracy/distance control has came on well ( backed up by improving GG stats)

The next stage is to groove a more consistant putting stroke and start to dropping more of those 'makeable' putts.

Not only did Speith & day show the value of 'making' putts throughout the season, but I am presently torturing myself over a 3putt on the 17th at Gleneagles PGA which lost a recent challenge match 2&1.

A 165y downhill 7 iron was nailed to 6 feet. I was so focussed on the right to left borrow that I underestimated the downhill roll and fired it 4feet passed. Needless to say I pulled the return putt.

Now I'm setting myself the challenge to be a better putter in 2016.

Santa is treating me to a putter fitting, and I'm going to be rolling them in by spring 2016

Ooooft - I feel better for that ! haha !

This winter I shall be mostly working on my tan!

For golf it’ll be the longer fairway wood shots, dialing in better distance control on uphill iron shots, building a new trust circle with my hybrid club and shopping for a new driver

I made a plan of what I will be working on over the winter-

Shot consistency- wanting to go back to the guy that gave me lessons when I was 15 (never had one since) and get him to look at how I can be more consistent. My swing is good and when it is on it is tremendous but at times I can spray shots everywhere. Part of me doesn't want to tinker too much and am hoping that this will be small adjustments rather than massive changes.

Putting- I have changed my alignment when putting and have now changed from hoping it goes in to thinking it will. Not going to work on this over the winter as it has improved so much. In March I will focus on putting.

Short game- Feb- April will be all about chipping and pitching

Distances- I have a good idea of the distance I hit my clubs. I am going to get this worked out for all my clubs.

With a course change coming next season I just want to fast forward right now. The season isn't even over and I just want next season to start. 3 medals left, get myself to 8 handicap in those, hopefully win our final major, a lot of range work over the winter then get going at a longer, tournament standard course. Oh, and admit I am an old man (at the ripe old age of 30!) and buy myself an electric trolley! I just can't wait!

What course are you switching to?

I've still got a bad dose of the lefts from time to time, and I don't know why. Well I do, swing path from out to in with a closed club face for the pulls and a in to out swingpath with a closed clubface for the pull hooks... I just don't know how to fix them. I'm thinking about getting a few lessons early next year to try to sort it out for the new season starting, so until then I'll play as much as I can while trying not to hit it left.

Irons haven't been great this year. might go back to my uber uber strong grip with a touch of reverse pivot. used to play quite a strong draw (read hook) with all my irons and now its a slappy weaker OTT cut.

I will see how that goes and then decide if I should bite the bullet and get some lessons.

Unlikely you have both swing paths

I reckon I'm going to get about a bit. I feel I've got a good foundation mechanic for my swing. Going to venture out and try new places. I'm going to learn how to play golf, and not how to play one course. Stay away from the range as much as I can and just enjoy every wee stroke I make.

I've played very little at my home course over that last 6 weeks. Its been both refreshing and a vindication that my game is in relatively good shape (tee to green)
Nothing beats getting out there and challenging yourself on a 'new' track
Enjoy !

Working on a new swing. Better takeaway, connection, shoulder turn, then a better downswing using my hips properly to stop my massive hip-slide and early extension. I want to do this to become far more consistent.

I know the drills, I can do it in slow time, but doing it for real will take small steps and months, months, months of practice. Apologies for anyone that I play with this winter!
