I am super confident with 3W and 3-8 iron.

9-SI, putting and Driver are the weakest part of my game in that order, when they are on I'll shoot below h/cap easily but usually some part of that combo is off and I'll get doubles and bogies from nowhere....

Ok I know whats weak so what can I do about it apart from practice? I practice at the range quite a bit with no improvement in these areas.
A eureka moment last night has me now deciding that these weak areas will now only be practiced on the course by myself i.e a few holes at night and several balls at each (when the course is empty/quiet of course)
Lets see how I hopefully improve.

What's your weakest part and how can you change it?

I have been putting all of my competitive rounds into SS2 this year and it seems my Driving is the area that needs some attention.
Drove it terribly today and still shot a 76 gross so the rest of my game seems healthy enough.

In order the biggest issues with my game are:

1) Staying fit - despite all my efforts Im spending yet another summer with an injury
2) Mental approach - my mindset had become hugely destructive. Have talked it over with someone and implemented a mental process to my golf, got a fair bit to do but definitely made some improvement
3) Driving the ball - historic left knee problems leave me not trusting it, leads to a hip slide rather than a rotation over the left leg. No issue with shorter clubs but makes it very difficult to stay behind the ball with the driver and end up with a "smothering" swing which i then try and rescue with the hands
4) Short game, albeit nearly all my issues here are mental and being resolved via point 2

That said having been injured and not played for 4 weeks again, apart from number 1 im really not that bothered. Wouldnt mind if i couldnt break 90 would just be happy to get out and play again tomorrow :)

Its got to be my driving,210-220 yards and that's about it,I have no handicap,I hit the ball well with my irons, nearly always find the fairway, but my second shot is always from a long way from the green. I KNOW Ishould be doing better but?

my back, pulled it again today pulling a wedge out of the bag. How the hell do you do your back pulling a club out of the bag??????

Other than that not scrambling well enough has been a weakness for me, I'm working on that more now and getting many more up and downs, this has given me much more confidence with my putting too.:putt:

Short game. As I alluded in my other post I am going to use a wonderful short game facility at Pachesham and have negotiated a good rate for four x 1 hour lessons (chipping pitching, bunkers and putting) and get a fresh pair of eyes. I have said before a lot of it has been in my head and I an clearing the crap out but just want to get confirmation the technique is sound. If I can hang belief on my ability I can banish the demons totally and play with more confidence and we know that in golf confidence breeds confidence. After that its practice, practice, practice

Short game without a doubt. My local club doesn't have a short game area really. Does have a little pitch and putt though which I really should get myself on more. Getting up and down a couple of times a round would really help out my scoring. Also course management, I need to start thinking more when I stand on the tee. Stop the urge to get it as close as possible and play to the sensible parts of the fairway.

Different every round for me at the moment and its getting rather silly :D

Short game been on fire for weeks so been working on my ball striking. Ball striking today superb, putting and short game utter tosh.

Been getting up and down from bunkers regularly last few weeks, today i went in two and cost me a triple both times

Im hoping its just getting itself together for Captains next weekend :D

Mine is simply that I need to work on a consistent and repeatable swing. I stand on the tee and don't know if I'll triple bogey or bogey. Sometimes it all comes together and I'll make the odd par and occasionally a birdie! Silly mistakes, basic errors and slap-stick bad luck also wreck my card.

I shouldn't have read the Maurice Flitchcroft biography because every time I do something stupid or return a card that some wag will say "is that your telephone number?" I can't help think 'even Maurice would have done better than that!'.

I did receive some compliments about my ability to get out of trouble and my inventiveness while doing so by several people over a couple of rounds recently, but sadly it's because I get a lot of practice in the cabbage, under trees etc...

i lost 3st over the winter and i have found a complete reversal in weak areas!

before it was
Strongest
**Driver and tee shots in generea
Weakness
** Putting

After Weight Loss
Strongest
** Putting
Weakess
** Driver.

I'm baffeled. i am spraying it all over the place, have no control anymore. some say the weight loss has changed my swing path / arc . really dont know lol

Mid to long Irons (I hit 50% of them fat and just can't fix it myself)

Putting. Improving lately but averaging over 40 a round.

Lessons for the mid irons I think is the answer because I am not that bad on length and accuracy when I hit them clean so its a minor adjustment in the set up or the swing that's needed.

Puttting, god knows. Our greens are pretty bad so that's not helping and I had 3 bobble of course from 6 feet today. Might try a change of putter and look at some videos. If not, more lessons.

Putting, Putting and Putting.

Long game was great yesterday, driving and long irons way better than my handicap indicates, but I get truly found out and proven as a 20+ handicapper when I'm on the green. Not a clue. The solution, buy another putter of course!

Inability to string 18 holes together.

No common theme to what wrecks my round but there's always something; driving, shanking, putting, chipping, course management, etc.

I am with you on that. Played today and same old for me. Started ok then just go off for a few holes then get it back then blow up again. Missing way to many greens from 60-120 yards and it's killing my score. My greens in reg was 1/18 today! Pathetic really.

Getting off the tee well.
It doesn't matter what club I use it's my worst shot on pretty much every hole. I can hit a terrible mid to long iron off the tee then hit the same club sweetly off the deck to get it towards the hole. Top a 3 wood 100 yards then hit the same club off the deck sweet as nut!
Phil told me yesterday I get a bit disconnected at times and it's usually on the tee shot so it's off to the range when the body is working again!
Need to work on my bunker shots too but that was a setup problem I didn't notice had slipped in again.

Feel for ya buddy, I used to pull my back for the most random reasons, mainly fixed now, I recommend strengthening exercises,it did wonders for me, it's the main reason people who have back issues tweak things all the time

Putting for me. According to Scoresaver 2, my FIR and GIR stats are equivalent to a 4 or 5 h/c. Birdie conversion and total putts stats are equivalent to some thing in the range of 19 to 22.

How will I improve? Going for a lesson next week to have someone look at my clearly dodgy technique and give me some pointers to practise. Then practise until my hands bleed.

From memory, Scoresaver doesn't consider distance from hole in its calculation merely birdies/GIR. So it could be that you are not getting close enough with your GIRs. And if SSS is greater than Par, you are probably hitting greens from much further away than if it was a couple of shots below Par! Your putting may be fine! FIRs (not a stat I'm particularly interested in) are likely to be much better for a short hitter than for a long one too, Stats can be misleading!
