.... and how do you go about playing it ?

Mines the Par 4 2nd. SI is 1. 410 off the yellows, 419 off the whites.

It's narrow (Probably 50 yards maybe if that), Trees all down the left and OOB. Ditch all down the right which leads to a large pond at about the 250 yard mark which cuts into the fairway.

The fairway slopes left to right and is getting firm now so it will run and run, usually into the ditch or pond.

So if I don't pull my tee OOB then chances are you'll either hit it only slightly right and the slope will take it too the ditch, or I'll hit a good straight one and find the pond.

I've tried all sorts on this and not managed par in 20 rounds. Best I've had is a 5, but average 6.9. Never made a GIR.

Tried 3 woods, 4i, my rescue club off the tee. Most of the time I've either pulled OOB left or sliced into the ditch.

It's one of those loads of risk, no reward holes.

Next time I play I'm going for a two 6i's which should get me up near the green reasonably safely. Then just try to pitch it close.

This hole just fills me with dread now. :( It doesn't help that it's only the 2nd hole either, so you haven't had a chance to get going yet)

So any holes like this on your track ?

7th stroke index 1 461 off whites nnarrow fairway slopes left into water pond right full of trees and fairway bunkers all along it. Have made birdie in texas scramble with mates but my personal best is a par.

Our si 1 is the par 4 12th.

You have two choices off the tee. Drive the pond, requiring a 260 carry (very few do it, and only with a tail wind). Or, lay up with an iron, avoiding going behind the trees on the island.
If you have laid up you have to play a long iron or fairway wood from a downhill lie, carry the pond and play to fairway/green about 20 feet above you.
If you drove the pond and find your ball it's a straightforward wedge in.

Basically its an easy hole if you drive the pond or difficult if you don't!

460yd par 4 10th. Slight dog leg left to right. Trees all the way down the right and deep cabbage down the left. Need to carry a bunker at about 180yds from the tee to start with.
Try to take the short route down the right and there is also a bunker 200yds short and 2 mahoosive pines that will stop you going for the green. Two staggered bunkers 60 & 30 yds short to stop anyone bobbling one down to the front and a green that is about 11 paces across.

Oh and it plays into a prevailing wind.........piece of cake!!!! :D

Our card-wrecking 16th - 469yd Par4 :(

Dogleft left, and a very good Drive will still leave you with a 200yd shot to a fairway that slopes from left to right, with OOB down the left, and a narrow green tight to the OOB hedge too.
For those that take on a huge drive over the corner, 260yd carry, it will get a kick on and perhaps leave you with a 7iron in, to a very tight green.

Miss the green right and the banked right side will kick it sideways with a vengeance, leaving you with a very delicate chip back up, with OOB behind.

Still, after 20yrs playing, I have never played a harder Par4 anywhere.

I call it the Card-wrecker for good reason, and always ecstatic with even a Bogey.

7th - Par - 4 S.I 1 382 yards Yellow pots and plays 420 off whites and very back whites its been known to play about 430.

Sharp dogleg to the left nearly a right angle with room to the right but a monster up hill 2nd to a 2 tier green. OOB on the left with trees making it difficult if you cut the corner

Off yellows not too difficult but off whites much harder! 2 options to play it (off whites)

1 - Safe out right with a 5 wood / 2 iron leaving around 220 up hill for 2nd with a large bunker guarding green.

2 - Cut the dog leg with a Driver (i can just do it with 3 wood but not as far up the dog leg!) to leave a rewarding easier 2nd in over the large bunker depending where flag is cut you need to be on the same tier... And generally if you carry the out of bounds there is about 15 yards of rough to carry also

also once you have gone past the trees you have a praviling wind face on making the second even longer in! Good Hole!

I know what you mean Chris. That's the trouble with mine. It's the 2nd hole. So you could have wrecked your round before you have even got going.

tbh, I'd quite happily take a 6 on mine. On the course reports from most comps it usually plays 1.75 over par.

I think my local club have the S.I's wrong....

S.I 1 is (off the yellows) 362yds directly uphill par 4, and when I say uphill I mean like K2!!

A good drive will still leave you about 160yds uphill to a narrow but long green that is well guarded by bunkers at the entrance.

That said, I've par'd this hole a fair few times as it is very straight forward and two good hits will see you somewhere close!!

I think the hardest hole is the 1st (S.I3) which is unfair in itself!! lol
413yds off the yellows, a good drive down a sloping right to left fairway will leave a very long approach over a beck to a deep green that is, again, well guarded by bunkers.

You can stay as far right on the fairway as possible which will leave the shortest route in, however you risk flirting with the trees and not having a shot in at all, or go down the left which really opens the green up but leaves a lot longer carry and a much much harder approach.

To the right of the green the ground slopes away severely and if you go anywhere right of the green you dont have a prayer of getting it up & down in 2.

The best i've ever managed is a bogey on this hole and i've never ever reached the green in two, I think its more psychological now! lol

I have to say personally it isn't our SI one which I can make par or bogey at worse most times but our 16th (SI 3). Its 425 off the whites with OB tight left (literally 10 yards left and running all the way down the driving area). Two large trees right will interfere with anything pushed too far right trying to avoid the OB. A bunker 60 yard short makes the green seem close than it is. A ditch runs down the right from about 100 yards short of the green for anything sliced.

I'll always play it as a par 5 every competition but still rack up too many 6's and a par is real bonus and worth almost 1 1/2 shots on the field.

Where to start.... :D

I suppose I have to vote for the S.I. 2 par 4.

444 off yellow, 449 off white.

BIG Tree down the left which catches anything pulled more than 5 yards, and a double line of 60' trees along the right edge. Fairway is max. 30 yards wide at 200-240.

I hit a 5 wood so I can get over the tree if I pull it.
Then have 230-ish, so tend to hit another 5 wood or rescue down the right. If you slice it, the double-liner stymies you. If you pull it left, there's another tree between you and the green, which you can't go over with a wedge.....

There's basically a 20 yard portion of fairway to hit (lay-up) or play a SW out the rough.....

I hate it. To make just a bogey, you need to hit 3 very accurate shots and two-putt. Anything a bit wayward, and it's guaranteed a double bogey......

15th, 459yds par 4
16th, 245yds par 3
17th, 433yds par 4
18th 444yds par 4

The sting in the tail.

I just happened to have played them in -1 at the weekend. :D

I was thinking the same when I read your post...

Par5 14th 575 Index:9 blind drive, protected green.
Par4 15th 471 Index:1 uphill all the way
Par3 16th 178 Index:13 all carry over a pond
Par4 17th 450 Index:3 Pond at 280y so you can't rip a drive
Par4 18th 454 Index:11 uphill all the way, narrow green

You don't relax on this kind of finish until you're in the clubhouse. Played them -1 yesterday and I'll take that 100% of the time if it was offered.

At our course we have our own little Amen Corner, the 11th, par 5 has O.O.B all down the right, dog leg right. The corner is drivable but if you hit your drive with a touch of fade your score is buggered, if you hit a fairway wood or iron you’ll be hitting a 7 iron at least no matter how far you hit the ball into a green for your 3rd shot with bunkers left and right which are at least 5 ft deep to avoid. If you survive this hole the next is harder, S.I 1, the previous was only S.I 7. Once again O.O.B all down the right with thick trees 15 yds of the fairway on the left. A good drive is essential to give yourself a chance of a G.I.R otherwise your short game and mental control will have to be on top form to avoid a total meltdown . Only one bunker on this hole but if you enter it your stuffed unless your Phil :D, 30 yds short of the green. When you get on the green you hope the pin is cut near the back on a sort of plateau, otherwise you have an icy putt down the green. For example in the summer last year the pin was cut at the front around 6 paces on, I was below the flag so I had an uphill putt on slow greens, I duly left it short and it stopped and began back towards me and de - greened itself, I nearly cried. A member in club champs to 20 shots through these two holes alone, he wasn’t happy. These two holes have the ability to reduce you to tears yet if you get them right the rest of the round feels so very easy, and you can be sure you’ll be taking the money ;).

We have our Amen Corner, Par 5 5th 522 yds SI6, ditch 30yds short of the green water down the right then a Par 3 6th 180yds off whites SI10, narrow green--water all along the right, play safe left theres a tree just to the left of the green which blocks out your second shot. Then our 7th par 4 423yds SI2--drive over a lake with a number of trees on the left leaving a narrow opening to the fairway, OOB on the right--get out of there playing to handicap and your a happy man. Dont even ask about the blues.
The par 3 6th was the toughest hole during a three day Europro event last year.
