What's the one thing that makes the round worthwhile?

The thread and answers on the "embarrassing handicap" posts got me thinking about the one thing above all others that leaves me feeling good after a round even if I've played atrociously or blown a good run or lost half a dozen balls etc etc

That one thing for me is if I birdie the hardest hole on the course (according to the card) then I feel there's hope.

What's yours?

Today for example I did not score at all well but I hit some of the best drives that I have ever hit today. plus my irons are starting to come back, the hook is starting to cure itself and my pitching is getting more accurate after my most recent lesson.

These excellent shots made up for the bad score today and give me drive to keep up the practice to improve consistency and gain the ability to string an entire decent round together. Then it will be the aim for a good round then a great round.

You can always find some positive in your game no matter how bad you play or score.

For me as well its those few very good shots that make a very bad round bearable.

The knowledge that you are capable of certain things keeps you coming back.

I will always look for a positive from a round. Maybe played that hole well we all have that we struggle with at our course. Maybe I creamed some drives further than normal, played a super hero shot out of the trees and got it on the green. I think you can always find something positive in even the worst of rounds. But like has been said already, a good last hole is always a nice feeling. Creaming your tee shot the slamming a mid iron straight at the pin in front of a club house full of people always feels good.........:whoo:

Birdies, i usually keep my score over gross on the way round, and though its nice to stall its steady increase with a succession of pars, nothing beats bringing it down once or twice with birdies!

played a round at blackwood yesterday (off winter tees admittedly) and had myself 2 or 3 birdies which worked out at 76, +5 after 18 (par 71) nice to get through so many holes so close to par.

thats it for me :)

If I manage to hit one shot in the round that I honestly believe any player in the world would be delighted with that's enough to send me home happy, now for the other 70-80!!!!

Must note. PhilM is 5 hcap lol. Great shooting round the bog mate. I was down playing Ardee yesterday or I would have been out on Bwood too.

Holing out from the greenside bunker for a two playing with Andy then watch him also pitch in for a 3 to lose the hole!

GIRUY!

Haha, maybe someday we'll both be off 5! i went in to the proshop and asked davey if you were about because we had a fella pull out of our 4ball but sure we can get out again.

yeah it was frozen abit on the front 9 and boggy on the back 9 when the heat got up(abit- like 4degrees) still good crack. my shot of the day was after pulling my drive of the 17th tee onto the 15th tee box (yes you read that right Phil) i then after alot of postering and pointing and measuring i stuck a 9iron to 10 feet, blind over trees! and made my 4.

Haha. Oh I've done that tee shot myself. Though the second was nothing like yours, don't even think I made 6 let alone 4 lol.
Yes mate we will get a game organised soon. How many shots you giving me? LMAO

Putting it about 1 yard off the tee past my cousin who is on tour. Its rare, but when it does happen its only by a yard or so and its great as he then gets a clear picture of me grinning like a cheshire cat!

Ash!!
