Got to be the duffed chip for me, normally my chipping helps me out to a good score, as for the rest of the duffed shots I rarely duff them so badly to cause me serious harm, though on occasion it can happen.

Wasn't there a 4 or 5 putt on sunday?

I'm sure I see one on the telebox but can't remember who it was.

Yeah it was Hunter Mahan! Was comedy as his first put was ok from where he was, but he left a missable putt next. After that though was just funny!

I am in a minority of one on this at the moment, but a lay up into trouble is the most annoying shot for me.

All the others are down to a poor technique of some degree whereas a lay up into trouble is a good shot which is badly thought out.

If you gotta lay up make sure you really do lay up. :D

I understand you Robobum but I always look at the positive and draw positive vibes from it, a well struck lay up ending in trouble due to mis-read etc is still a well struck shot that I can draw comfort from, but a duffed chip through a mistake you dont usually make or expect is bloomin annoying to me. :D

I went for knifed chip as invariably it flies miles over the green and into trouble but I agree with MikeH when he says a duffed one normally follows.

The most destructive though has to be a shank. I'm getting a few with my pitches and as I posted last week its a game of russian roulette at the moment. I'll normally make a passable effort at a pitch somewhere in the vicinity of the centre of the green (hopefully next to the hole) and then from nowhere and with a swing that looks and feels like all the others I'll shoot one 45 degrees right.

There are three most annoying shots in golf - the duffed chip, the bloody duffed chip, and the bloody stupid duffed chip.

Not exactly a great fan of any of those shots, but for me the knifed chip and the shank does it just nicely.

Also most annoying is when you have been driving great for the first 9 holes, then proceed to stand on the 10th tee and put one so far right it ended up in a house (well the garden at least, I'm not that bad). The most annoying part being I was 3 over front nine including a 7 (4 putt). Then ended up finishing level handicap.

Duffed chip... had a spate of this a year ago and got in my head. Now thankfully cured. Came about from being a bit too cocky and cutesy wrong play.(Nipped lob wedge off a bare muddy lie to a tight pin was the start of it. should have putted the bugger). Now simplified it and all ok.
To you guys who are suffering the s****s, remember that it is very close to a good shot..according to Pelz!
