What's the best value course here (if any)?

Two rounds at trump is my years subscription for the year. Nuff said.
What I find odd is some courses charge an absolute fortune to try to get you on. Like the ones mentioned, and then there are those ( like the one on holiday) that don’t want you even for a ridiculous price.

About 22 or 23 holes at Trump is my years subscription and I'm at a quality course.

Its ridiculous but people want to put a tick in the box and pay stupid prices for the privilege.

Works out at a lot of money per shot :ROFLMAO:

This is so true, you could come to my course and hit a brand new ProV1 for every shot and pay a similar amount.

The most I have ever paid for a round of golf anywhere is 90 Euros at Monte Rei in Portugal. Now that was good value.

Would I pay £300 to play any of those courses? Not a chance. That’s not value for money, and I simply would not enjoy a round at those prices. There’s far better value to be had elsewhere.

I’m starting to choke above £60

Best value course I’ve played, Moortown, last day of their winter rates, dropped on some stunning weather - think we paid about £40, and easily got 36 holes in.

Have played a number of the courses and loved every single minute of it

Every penny well spent to play on some of the best courses in the world and for me great value to play some of the same courses as some of the best golfers ever seen - it’s something you don’t get a chance to do in any other sport

And I would pay it again - amazing experience

Each to their own, Phil, but nearly £4 a shot, assuming I don’t slap it round? It’s an awful lot of money, which I would only ever consider parting with as a one off for a special occasion, and even then I’m not sure I could justify it.

There are plenty of other quality courses around which can be played at a fraction of the cost, which don’t rip customers off because of the name, or who may have played there.

Not played any of them so can't say definitively.
But I'd hate to be on an off day if I'd paid that kind of money.
I can't recall paying over £100 a round but may have touched that a couple of times.
Looks like I will have to occasionally with the way golf inflation is going if I want to play the prestigious courses which I do once or twice a year.

Yep there are lots of quality courses that can be played for a lot less - and most of the top courses I have played have been on deals , winter rates , opens , forum meets or as a guest - lots of ways to get on most of the best courses

What would you pay for a pint of beer? £1....heck yes! £3....yep. £10...only if I was dying and it could save my life...... I don't care how good it tastes...ain't gonna happen (unless my life was on the line). Some people will pay up close (and beyond) £50K for a car.....it's a car....it takes me places.....if I want people to look at me I'll run naked down the street. Other people are more than willing to blow £50k+ on a car they don't need....it's their money....

The prices now are ridiculous.
Not sure about the full published rates but courses such as Goswick, Blairgowrie, Southerness, Boat of Garten are all super and I would say great value.
Twilight deals are often available which makes other pricey places good value.

I am lucky enough to have Sunningdale subsidised with a work do evey year: 36 holes, bacon rolls, 3 course carvery and sandwiches and cakes afterwards for £140. Same deal at St. George's Hill too.
Sorry.
As for the courses on that list, and the costs, I don't think any are best value, but experience would be amazing. It depends how much money you want to spend for an experience.
I will be blowing A LOT on golf courses for my 50th year though!

I did a bit of work on the St George’s Hill estate last summer. Wow, how the other half live ?

Go on then, which is your favourite? Old, New, or St George’s Hill? ?

Royal County Down (aka Newcastle) is a magnificent track, a genuine travel one errand to play course. It is quirky, with some blind shots, and on a windy day will test every facet of your game, but still an unforgettable experience. It has a number of postcard photo holes including the 4th par-3 and the famous 9th par-4 with the Mournes in the background. A couple of the best holes are on the back 9, the par-4 13th and 15th, two quite different but very demanding holes.

Stay at the Slieve Donard Hotel next door.

What, you want me to be "that guy"? ?
St George's Hill
Old
New

All are stunning, but of the three, the only one I would really want to play every week is St George's Hill. It's a special, magical place for me.
