Whats keeping you from a lower handicap?

Chipping i say , Been working on not breaking my wrist and flicking , a lot of work and its paying off as last month or more I have been playing to about 2 most of the time on not just my home course ............

After what I've just read, it's approach play to greens that is stopping me from getting lower. On the PGA tour 57% accounts for strokes gained through approach play, 28% through Driving and 15% through putting - per round (all are averages). It's been an interesting read.

I certainly think as you get your handicap low then approach play is the big thing as you can't make birdies if you don't hit the green. But then driving is sort of tied into that too, because if you keep missing fairways then it is going to be hard to hit plenty of greens. Ask a low handicapper after a disappointing round, more often than not he will talk about missing too many greens and not sinking enough putts.

I think higher handicaps though are different, as they don't need to hit greens because of getting lots of shots. I think for them it is keeping it in play off the tee and not having duff chips and taking 4 to get down from near the green. Ask the and they will probably talk about taking 3 off the tee and 3 putts.

How about this stupid hc system we have. Shot 1under 70 today 40points, winner with 43 (a blob and 3x1 pointers) thought I would be in top half dozen.......Na naaaaaaaaaaa, 6th place with 41points.......

Then CSS went down 2 to 69 only got .2 off!!!!! It was off yellows, but still annoying.

Had a very poor run of form lately. Saw a different guy at a different range for a 30 minute lesson as the guy I normally have lessons from was off for halt term. Changed nothing much more than posture (shoulders way out over toes) and a cupped left wrist at address and I was hitting it nicely again but can't translate range form on the course. Mind you I've hardly played over the last few weeks which isn't helping. Need to sort my driver out (tomorrow) and then I should be back to playing a reasonable standard given the time of year

CSS can only go down one.

Yep, your right, not that I play much comps off yellows but the SSS is 70 where as on our whites is 72 on a par of 71.
i thought it was 71SSS on our yellows....... Must learn this system......
