Whats better?

So how many more tournaments would Luke have won if he could hit further like Bubba?

And if 240 "is not short", then 272 is huge by comparison.

Oh for the love of God - get a grip on reality for a minute will you?

I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt but you're obviously not prepared to take advice.
Carry on with your quest for Cat1 and 300 yards - I honestly doubt you'll make it.

I'm hitting the ignore button.

Yes, for the average golfer a 270 drive is a big one. There are some golfers on here who can hit futher, but most will be very happy with a 240 down the middle. Always a good chance for a nett par or even a nett birdie.

The pros game is not relevant to the game we play week in week out at our home courses. It really is a different game!

You dont get it do you.

Why do you keep repeating the same question, bog off somewhere else with your inane posturing about 300 yards. It really is boring. Come back when you have got a handicap and played some real golf.

Should I stop trying to lower my handicap then? Coz I only drive about the 230 yard mark and im off 8 at minute and was hoping to get it down lower

How much easier would your task be if you pick up your ball and walk it 70 yards further down the fairway?

Erm, why 70 yards??

If I could pick my ball up and place it anywhere, I'd place it in the hole.. :D

I play golf because it's me against the ball and the course. I hit my ball as long as I hit my ball - I'll take that.

I'm not sure why you're on this forum if you've never played the game - my guess is that you're trying to flog something and very soon you'll unleash your sales pitch on us..

Please stop all this 300+ yard wibble as you're coming across as rather cretinous.

This has once again been turned into a stupid argument about distance with a guy who makes false claims about what people say in order to get more replies.

I was starting to come round to the fact that Tim was an ok guy then see this constant drivel and assume he just likes winding people up or has a fettish for 100+ replies on a thread.

You're right, I really don't get it do I.

The players on here want to improve every part of their game, except distance.

Incorrect. I'm more than happy with my distance - what I want to improve is my accurancy with my irons and my short game.

How do/did you improve your game??
What's your handicap??
Where do you play??

If you've got the secret for 300+ yard drives then please, tell all, we're all ears..

By the way, you don't live in France, do you??

Wrong again

Really bored of this so you are going on my ignore list.

Anyone else joining me?

At the end of the day you play with what you have in your locker so to speak and try to improve. I am not a big hitter and even less now that I have ditched the driver and use just my 3 wood. I am more interested in getting a better short game because I feel it is the most important part of the game IMO and gets my scores lower.

Timgolfy I challenge you to a game of golf. You can blitz it at least 50 yards past me, but I will beat you.

Homer already tried that one..no dice :)

Homer's mum was going to let him play though!!

In all seriousness, feary's right though. He plays off low single figures because he can score, regardless how it's achieved!

He's a bulls**t merchant and is clearly trying to do it to get a reaction. He's no intention of ever playing a game with anyone on here and is happy in his own little fantasy world down the range believing that aged 40+ he's got so much ability to swing so fast and consistently that he'll be single figures as he only needs to hit short irons in.

Come on Tim. How about a game against ANY forum member. What you got to lose. Man up or jog on to another forum. No one is really interested unless you can actually play the game. Stop talking the talk, it's time to walk the walk or see what Today's Golfer's forum thinks of your plan and leave us in piece

I dont think thats true.

However, you seem to ONLY want to increase your distance? It also seems that you won't listen to any alternative. There are long hitters off scratch, and "short" (relatively) hitters off scratch which proves that it isnt a pre-requisite to hit it long.

By your logic, hitting shorter distances is more accurate, more often. Surely this holds true with the driver aswell?

Going back to the original question, I suspect I would win more with the better short game and end up with a lower handicap but smile more if could bomb it 300 yards every time.

One of the pros at my club rubbed shoulders with Ross Fisher in days gone by. He said that he matched him blow for blow more or less but the difference he said was length of the tee. The example he gave Ross would be hitting a 8I on the second shot whereas the club pro may be hitting a 4 or 5I. Take it with a pinch of salt if you wish.
