I think time for me would be a big factor and being near a decent range. We have a great practice ground and short game area at the club but that is not much use in poor conditions.

I am happy with the clubs that I have now and have had them all fitted by a bloke that I trust. All I would need after tomorrows fitting is the wedges so that would be part of it. I would also have the clubs checked top to bottom for distance gaps as they have been bought in stages over a year or so and it would be good to ensure that was all correct.

Not sure that I need a top 25 coach or anything like that. It sounds ideal but if you get allocated a coach that does not suit your learning style then you are going nowhere. I am happy with the way that Bob teaches so you could add fortnightly lessons with Bob ot the equation. Would also help greatly if my chosen teaching pro were able to teach me on my own course, give lessons during rounds etc but not really likely that the pro would agree to that.

Regular golf coaching, using trackman or similar preferably.
Regular fitness coaching, (strength, speed, flexibility)
Fitting to ensure I'm playing appropriate equipment.
Time to play and practice.

The rest is just stuff.

Think we all know time is the major killer for us mere mortals but if I was completely kitted out with a target and time period I could find the time to put more work into it. I try hard to get as much practice time in as I can but its hard over the winter months as that mostly equates to range time. This can be expensive at £6 a pop. As soon as the lighter evening appear its easier as I can use the range at the club, short game area and putting green as well as playing on the course more.

I agree with justone too when you add up all the extras like balls & gloves etc its quite frightening.

I could easily hit 500 balls per day, that's about £30

..... or approximately £900 per month!!!!!

It would be nice to be 25 yrs old again, i.e. like WilliamAlex, take 30yrs off me and to have no aches and pains. And then maybe just a wee bit more time to play. Other than that I'm happy.

I reckon its structured coaching & practice, equipment only does so much its how you use it that matters most

This is true Gibbo but at the lower end you've got so few shots to work with so playing a different ball that could have 4 or 5 yds difference in distance (or spin control) can make a difference as you want the most predictable shot you can get, same goes with clubs - if you can narrow your dispersion by 3yds or even make sure your putter fits you correctly it can be an extra shot here and there.

The most obvious thing for me would be this: Unlimited range ballsA top 25 coach giving me a lesson every other week. A couple of 18 hole playing lessons also, as better course management and being able to put a good score together can easily knock a few shots off a round. I think I could do it with the clubs I have now, but it would be nice to go somewhere and get them all checked and set up to ensure I have the correct shafts and setup. A custom fitting for a putter. Optional items that may help also would be: A full fitting session for a brand new set of clubs.A lithium battery for my motocaddy.A set of GG gore-tex waterproofs.

Sounds like a quick route to a repetitive strain injury to me. Do you think you are going to get value out of hitting that many balls, even if they were free?
I hit 220 the other night and to be honest towards the end I was smashing them out there for the sake of it as fast as the automatic tee would dish them up. I was pretty tired after hitting that many and I'm stronger and fitter than most (most golfers anyway!)
