What would you do to improve your golf game?

How much time would you dedicate to improving your game?
Ideally I'd play Saturday and Sunday with practice 3 nights a week, in reality I normally play once a weekend and can only have spare time for one practice evening a week.

What would you like to do more of to help you improve?
Play more

What would you buy to help your game?
Custom fit clubs, just can't bring myself to be spending £300 on the latest driver so apart from my irons I've always gone for older models/2nd hand clubs.

What would improve your game?

Improve your our golf swing by 50% or improve your decision making by 50%?

Just started an hour a day at the range - every day - rather than the once a week or so I've been doing since starting having lessons.

Also going to get in several chipping and putting sessions a week around the practice green at the links - once light nights come I'm going to live at the course - this is the first year I've concentrated on golf in a decade. I always said I didn't have time - I can make time if I want to get better.

I've been doing some back yard chipping - into a brolly - but nothing else. In yesterday's round, by chipping was poor-diabolical, while my iron play was A1! Can you explain that? Sodding game!:mmm:

1 - Every time I lace up my spikes I'm dedicated to improving I suppose, even if Its the most casual of knocks. If I'm having a bad round and the /match/target score is out of reach I kinda privately focus on say driver for example right ok I'm gonna see how I can have a mini mental training session with the big stick. If I say to myself the target now is not to hit right of fairway for the rest of the round I can come away happy regardless of the outcome of the game. Doesn't impact anyone else im playing with, just gives me a new focus rather than the overall performance if im struggling. putting / chipping / approach / recovery applies to all really. If I'm playing solo I'll usually pick an area before I tee off to focus on usually ends up being recovery though!!! Little spells on the range usually though if im playing well to try figure out why its going well rather than wrong.

2 - Get an actual membership rather than a season ticket / actual competitions something with a real competitive edge I think would help improve mentally. Happy at the moment friendly knocks, solo and golfshakin' my guide handicap.

3 - My own course - before every euro millions draw I actually have a conversation with my self actually trying to justify spending 30m of my 80m on my course like it will ever happen!
I like your thinking :)

After a week the one hour everyday ball striking practice is beginning to get my swing thoughts to a point where they become natural - wish I'd started doing it when I started having lessons back in October - Everything would have ingrained much quicker.

Nothing, hate practicing, and don't have the time, play once a week twice sometimes when there's a comp on, that's why I've given up moaning about how crap I am.

That sounds promising! Keep it going, you might be surprised at how good you are. :)
