Played in a foursomes KO and my partner played off too high a handicap. We were DQd and the opponents progressed to the next round.
Why not leave it at the committees door, but as a compromise rather than see him kicked out ask if it can be replayed. If he beats Richart again then fair enough and if Richart prevails the guy hasn't really got any comeback as he's got a second chance he shouldn't really have anyway. Seems a win win
Is what I would do![]()
going by the drivvel on here you would continue playing off the wrong handicap til it was changed by the committee? Which would result in DQ from any comp!
Richart has turned up expecting 6 shots and is now only getting 5, this may have had a mental effect on him causing him to play worse.

This is how I see it.
If you play well and you believe you will be chopped from 4.5 to 4.3, you must chop yourself and play off 4 until your are told otherwise.
If you play badly and believe you will go up from 4.3 to 4.5, you must still play off 4 until you are told otherwise.
Bottom line is...
you should be dq'd for playing off a higher handicap than you are entitled to.
You cannot be dq'd if you play off a lower h/cap than you are entitled too.

But if he knows he is going up then surely he is entitled to pay off the handicap that his play dictates???

Do you not read all the posts ? What if the comp was reductions only ? You cant move your h/c back up without knowing the results and having them published , its not a hard concept to understand.

LOL.
Just looked at Richarts OP. It hasn't been establised if the results of the Open comp that the 4 hcp played in had been published yet. Surely if they had already been published and he had informed the hcp committee at his home club then all is well. If either of the above hasn't happened though then let us sharpen the pitchforks and light the torches.
Out of interest, who actually hands in scores from Open comps to their hcp committee? I do when I play well but not when I've played crap. It's a lot of hassle to go through to get 0.1 back. Infact, this week I have played 3 rounds in an Army comp all well over hcp and if I were to hand the cards in I would've been off 5 for our medal yesterday and maybe competed a bit better...

Never thought I would read this. Your HC is false if you dont put in all your away scores, high or low. If you want to kid yourself that you're off 4 when it's really 5 then fire away. I've had a look at my away scores and if I take my bad ones out I would be playing off 4. Dont these poor away scores go to your home club?
yep that's a fair one. But I'm not going to change it's a lot of effort for me to get the cards and CSS sheets from some of these comps and I'm not going to do it so I can get 0.1 back. I'm lazy!
Maybe there is a good argument for a central hcp system where you don't have to make the player do all the donkey work. The EGU currently give out EGU swipe cards to all golfers who want one but how about making these compulsary(?) to all golfers and when you enter a Open comp, the hosting club swipes you in and your hcp is adjusted automatically by an online system....
I dont see any issue with getting away score info to my club sec. I check out the away club web site or phone to find out the css sss par. It's easier than entering the comp in the first place.
