What Would Entice You to Spend More Time/Money in the Clubhouse

Ours is annoying - only takes £1s, and it's 2026 now - lots of people don'r carry change, including me usually. Sure I can buy £1s from the bar using a card but that's a faff, and I don't want to hassle them if they're busy; those little friction points seem insignficant but can prevent sales.

So yeah, modern contactless-payment coffee machine. Nice bean to cup job with all the usual options. Would pay for itself pretty quick I reckon; especially as your price isn't stuck at £2 for all time until you reckon you can get away with £3, so you can increase prices sensibly.

I don't do coffee but you've summed up the most difficult part of joining the Saturday roll-up for me - finding £3 from somewhere. :LOL:

I normally find mine from what I won the week before. It all sits in the cup holder in my car. At one stage last year, I didn't have to top it up for nearly 3 months! :ROFLMAO:

Headley Golf club in Bradford was owned by a fella that owned a strip club. When you went to the lavvies there were flyers up in there advertising the place. Not sure if he offered dual memberships though… 😂
 
Just lately what to do about the clubhouse has become quite a hot topic within our group which has a couple of directors.

Looks like we are heading to reducing kitchen and bar opening hours at the start of the day , having already reduced them in the afternoons. Talk is to install hot drink vending machines for regular member use and maybe only having the staff in when there is a major comp or a society.

Lots of discussion about bringing back mandatory bar card top ups with the annual renewal but differing views on the point of this from a profit point of view as the majority of members spend more than the levy any way. Apparently what was happening when we had them was a the few that did not come in regularly would come in and spend the levy on bottles of wine to take away.
 
Decent food and service. Went in today after golf. Disinterested staff talking to each other before deigning to take your order. However, my main bug bear is them not clearing the tables quickly. Sat there with dirty plates in front of us for over 25 minutes. Could see one staff member just leaning on the bar talking to another staff member. Table only cleared when they were asked to.

Friend ordered a chicken and mayo sandwich. Arrived on brown bread and she'd ordered white. Staff member just walked off when she said this. However, the best bit was the chicken. A whole chicken breast slapped between the two pieces of bread and slathered in mayo:oops:. Couldn't believe she didn't send it back!

People still use the clubhouse with food and service like that! Surprised people aren’t voting with their feet and just getting straight in their cars after the round.

Appalling is the right word. Sadly there is a group for whom the club can do no wrong. Any email complaints to the GM and you get the answer " we will pass your feedback on" What was even worse in my eyes was I was with the Lady Captain, Lady Vice Captain and the Lady Vice Captain elect. It's the first time I've been in for ages and this is why.

We are only there until the end of the month. Just had enough.
