If you have read my other thread you will see that I have fallen in love with the Nike Pro combo iron's. I always thought I wouldn't be good enough to play an iron like these bit after having a range session yesterday with a 6 iron I actually hit it a lot better than my own chunky nasty GI burner 2.0's. The look at adress just fills me with confidence and I hit a lot of very nice shots with it.

Here's where a decision has to be made... I can get the last model for £340 brand new as the new model which looks exactly same is about to be launched. AG seem to be the only company who still have stock of them and I know I will be kicking myself if they sell out and I then buy the new model for twice the price with very little changes made.

I did want to wait and keep testing until next year and have a proper custom fit while also trying the new AP2's. I know the Stiff shaft will be fine as I was fitted for my hybrid recently and I was fitted based on my iron swing speed first before moving onto the actual hybrid.

The last big factor is the forged heads. At £340 I wouldn't be so suicidal if I took a chunk out of one of the irons but if I bought the new model or the AP2's for £700 then taking a chunk out of one with a stone or tree root would be a kick in the beach balls.

I'm going to the range again shortly so hopefully that will help make my mind up...

Very confused!!!

Check the bold bits - no brainer for me.

Go for the ones that you feel most at home with regardless of price.

but do it in the Spring when they may be a little cheaper, you will have appreciated the anticipation and you will probably find it easier to sell on your current irons as well - not to mention the feeling of setting out on a spring morning in the sunshine with new irons relative to a cold, wet, often dark, December round.

I just saved you £40.

Thank me later

If you buy them and want a retro fitting for lie angle , lofts, grip thickness, etc; go and see Phil at Clubhouse Golf, Four Ashes Road, Dorridge.

AG & many others use him but IMO it is better to go direct.

If I were you I'd try and have a bash with the mizuno swing DNA shaft optimiser. If it spits out s300 as an appropriate shaft then crack on and buy the discounted ones.
In fact that is exactly what I did, except my weapon of choice was the discontinued mizuno mp53 irons. Haven't regretted it for a second.

Only problem with the Mizuno optimizer is it's a great place to start, but isn't the be all and end all when it comes to shaft.

When I got fitted at the start of the year for my 63's, the DNA optimiser suggested light weight shafts (Dynaite R300, Project X flighted and one of the Nippon range). Flight was way too high which compromised carry and the dispersion wasn't great either.

Plugged in R300 (Much heavier shaft) improved both flight and dispersion.

If the OP has experience with TT S300 and is happy, I'd suggest sticking with that.
