Have read a few posts lately about 36 points being the norm.
I for one don't see this, purely because every course is different.
However my question is-what makes your weekend game bearable.
For me anything that starts with a 2 is diabolical.
A 3 and its bearable.
A 4 and its a great weekend.
On my course high 30s is the norm.

I've never scored less than 32 points on my home course and boy did I chop it round!!!

34 is an acceptable for me. 40+ is infrequent/ unlikely :(

A guy in my swindle shot 16 points last Saturday. They would need to hide my shoelaces if that was me. Less than a point a hole.

I don't judge my round purely by score but if I was going to break it down that simply...

20s: I'm not a happy Hawkeye
30 to 33 is OK
34 to 36 I've played really well but made a couple of stupid mistakes
37 to 39 I've played really well without the stupid mistakes
40+ I've just shot a PB so I'm dancing on the ceiling of the clubhouse

36+ doesn't happen all that often around our course, 40+ is like Rocking Hor..... (You get the point)

Getting cut or at least Avoiding point 1 is what makes it bearable for me mate.. so 36 and up .. rest is a disappointment . loads of disappointments last year .. including a 36 that did get me .1

Buffer, so 35-37, I'm happy. 30+ is ok, less than 30 I'm probably going to spend the afternoon on the practice ground/chipping or putting green! More than 38 points and I'm a very happy chappie!

You got it @HawkeyeMS - we need to debunk the myth of 36 points being what you should score when playing your normal game. The big plus side of this is that it highlights the serious brilliance or banditry of 40+ pointers. 44+pts is very very rarely brilliance - just banditry :)

Regular high 30s - something not quite right :)

TBH, I can't remember the last time i played in a stableford Comp, its either stroke play and match play during the season or Skins or matchplay, or stroke play in winter.

so less than 80 is buffer or more than one skin;)

34 is a ok round , happy with 35-37 , anything over and I have had a great weekend but it is also dependant on which course

Have to agree. The course doesn't take prisoners if the game is a little off and so 30+ is a reasonable return. less than that and I get ratty. Fortunately in the last few weeks I've not had to worry and have been well inside my target zone including a joint first in the roll up a few weeks back

dont understand (well maybe I do) the fascination with the hackers charter:whistle:

In answer to the OP
+2 over par, pretty happy
+1 over par, happy
level par, delighted
under par, ecstatic

none of the above has happened more than once in the last year:mmm:

Similar to others:
below 32pts or above +3 then not happy
32-36pts or +3-par Happy
above 36pts or below par Huge Grin

(Net scores ofc for stroke play)

Assuming SSS = course par.
Below 30 is a bad day.
30 to 33 could be many things, for instance a good day spoilt by a couple of poor shots/decisions, or a bad day saved by a couple of miracle holes or a good day when nothing happened.
34 plus I'm happy
Over 36 I'm very happy
Over 40 I'm delighted

I was absolutely delighted with my round on Sunday although I only scored equivalent of 37 points as we were playing from our yellow tees, SSS 70 against par 72, and a couple of tees were up.

Started with a triple bogey 8 on the first, scored 35 for 16 points on the next 8 holes so out in 43 for 16.
Then played my best ever 9 holes scoring 1 bogey, 6 pars and 2 birdies for 1 under gross 35 and 23 points. :)
