Played on my lonesome this morning. A particularly strange round with a 4 over front 9 and a 2 under back 9.. However, when I got into the clubhouse, one of the guys who was playing a couple of holes in front asked me if I knew that I was chatting to myself all through my pre-shot routine.. Looking back now, I realized that I regularly use a couple of sayings to build up to the swing.

Firstly, I tell myself that "it's Dancing not Wrestling." This helps to relax the swing, then I go into my "G-MASS" Pre shot routine. Grip, Mechanics, Alignment then Swing Softly.. Now this isn't new to me, but i've never realized that I was talking to myself, I just thought it was in my head.. Maybe when i'm alone, my pre shot routine is my only company...

Anyhoos, what, if any, do you use??

None I can think of but on my own I chit chat my way round the course. Usually I speak to Mickey Mouse who is on my hybrid and he's great company as he always, but always agrees with me :)

At least I think the voices are only in my head...

Not just me then? I do like the conversation when im alone, but im my own biggest critic. And you should hear the things I call myself...

Ahh me too but then I also congratulate myself wildly when it goes well !! If anyone hears "you stupid woman" bellowed around a course then it could well be me...despite Dr Bob telling me to stop doing that !

I can't possibly put into print the sayings that I use. Suffice to say the bleep machine would break after 3 holes were my rounds to be televised.

Just ask Smiffy!

Nutter alert!!!

Seriously though.....mine stay in my head, but it is a troubled place ocassionally.

its been known for me to commentate on my game from time to time. although its mainly the "what was that you plonka and some more adult language.
The lesley tilghman impression has come out a couple of times when playing with mates.

A variety of technical golfing terms, such as: "Oh s**t", & "F**k it" together with some motivational lines like "You p**t!!"
Clearly my classical education wasn't wasted.

Never mind the sayings, well done on shooting 2 over! :D
Cheers mate. I think that the "new" pre shot routine helped. The front 9 was a real scramble, but the back 9 seemed eerily easy.. It went par, par, par, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, par, bogie...that bogie at the last was a real mess as well. Took a strange bounce just before the green and shot left...

im trying my hardest to kerb bad language through bad shots,.... and just enjoy the good shots.

instead of blerting out f words and god knows what, i just repeat the below sentence and its working

" your out with friends, having a laugh, walking and enjoying the fresh air.... be thankful "
