After constant headaches from 100-120 ish yards I've got to add a club into my set-up I believe. Now my current setup is...

PW 45 - 125-135 yards
?
SW 55 - 80-90 Yards Pitch
Vokey 58 - up to 80 Yards Pitch

I'm not a big fan of gripping low down on the PW or taking some off it as my swing becomes very arm'sy and out of rhythm causing me hooks and thins. I only pitch with my SW as I ballon shots with it when I hit it full. I'm thinking of adding a 50 degree Vokey into my setup as it should fit the gap perfectly right?

Do you think this is the way to go?

As you've got burners through to pitching wedge I would be tracking down a burner AW did myself when I had the 09's and same now with the TP CB.

I had the same setup as you and bought a 50 degree vokey and it worked great although I had a 60 instead of a 58. Changed to ap2s that had 47 degree PW, messed it all up ended with me replacing all my wedges.

I would hunter down a AW to match your irons, works much better. The forged irons I have don't have a approach or gap wedge so I bought another 46 pitching wedge and had it bent to 50 degrees, affected bounce slightly but hit it great!

I have a 52 which a full swing is 100yds, a 56 ,full swing, 75yds, if i could be consistent it would (and has) work well.

I'm gutted as AG had one AW Burner 2.0 on there site a few months back for a silly price £40ish I think it was and I didn't bother with it.

I also can't imagine dumping my 55 as its so consistent for me out of bunkers and my 80-90 YARD pitch shots with it are probably one of the best parts of my game and a shot I feel very comfortable with. I carry 11 clubs so it could stay I suppose.

I need to try out the 50 and 52 really but range balls are going to show me nothing. Might get custom fit for one to make sure it will be good for the gap.

I have a 45* PW, 50* GW, 54* SW and 58*LW. Its a lot of wedges but I do find I use them, usually at the wrong time... I do feel confident at the yardages they produce or +/- 5 yards of and I like that I have a full shot.

I shall be replacing them soon and I think I shall get the same lofts.

sussh you, you have a 19 sticking out of your bag now ;)

wood, hybrid, utility iron - you need one of these in the bag in all honesty.

you can play quite sensibly with the 4 iron as your second longest club, but that will only do for so long.

daveyboy - did you ever get your handicap sorted?

GW - 50/51
SW - 55/56
