my favourite is the 2nd on the inner 9 at malone golf club, belfast. it's a great course now, comparable to it's 18 holer big brother. it's a par 4, about 390 yards, with a narrow fairway (slight dog-leg right) and a huge tree (reminiscent of the tree on the 18th at pebble) to avoid. the green is protected by a pond at the front.

it's a challenging yet fun hole to play.

2nd at Portstewart Strand course tee off high up then it turns in a slight dog leg witha huge dune down the left hand side.
1st at Machrihanish ,belter.

11th at Chartham Park GC in East Sussex.
Par 5 with a high(ish) stroke index (can't remember what it is but I don't shot there).
Slightly elevated tee, two ponds to the right hand side and rubbish to the left. Calls for a fairly straight tee shot but if you are brave enough to go over to the right hand side of the fairway and "flirt" with the ponds it will open up the green for a long, raking second. You need to be out to the right because there are 2 or 3 pine trees that encroach into the fairway from the left hand side which stops you having a go at it from there.
A great "risk and reward" hole and I love it.
How come I keep cocking it up???

This thread is useless without pics :D

The first at Ardglass is a cracker off the back sticks, wind howling. (the white tees are the last little tiny bit of grass in the distance, right hand side 50 yards behind the flagpole.)

or the first at Castle Stuart, such a daunting tee shot, even the walk down to the first tee gives you an idea of the difficulty ahead, I scored a 7 with a 3 iron for safety!

The 8th at Letham Grange. A short par 3 over water.

But what about their 10th??

I think I must have landed in most of the roofs/bar-b-q's down the left of the 10th!

I even chipped onto the front tee in one Open, so that I could play an easier shot down onto the fairway.

I know - it is all between the ears!

I agree with you re the 8th, by the way - superb hole!

Take your pick of any of the 18 at Royal Birkdale. Controversy about the green aside, the 17th is a cracking par 5. Drive into a narrow valley between the dunes and then do you lay up or play short of the bunkers. Then putting on 'that' green can perplex the best.

i'm going to play ardglass for the first time this summer. it looks a cracker of a course. can't wait to play the par 3 second and twelfth holes. hope it's not too windy! castle stuart looks a place to play too.

4th or 9th at Royal County Down are contenders for best holes anywhere.

4th is a tough par-3 to a small green with run off to bunkers. The tee shot is played from up the hillside if you are off the back tees, and can be as much weaponry as you have in the bag on a windy day.

9th is an iconic par 4 over a big sandhill with a big drop down into a valley and playing up to a green in a narrow neck.

The first 6 holes all run along the cliff, fantastic place to play, wind or not!
Castle Stuart, it was hard to pick a hole that you could consider weak, they were all stunning and had their own difficulties.

i have a lot! however 2 obvious candidates are the 630 yd par 5 at the speyside(which i made in 2 1st time i played, and walked off with a 6!!)also the 12th at boat of garten, you ar 100 yds above the fairway, with the views of the caingorms behind the green....i do a have a pic somewhere, ill see if i can find it!

12th at St. Mellion.
Drive over water, huge trees either side of the fairway, water in from of the green and big drop-off to the left of the green.
