What is it about Skycaddie's/GPS etc etc ?????

there was an earlier thread that asked if the standard of amateur golf had improved - which it hasn't. the thing about the GPS is that it might be the thing that does cause an overall improvement.

the difference between pros and amateurs (leaving aside minor things like hours of practice, tuition, quality equipment, and skill) is their ability to pick the right club and the right shot for each situation (and play it).

from my limited experience of GPS, and apparently of many others, giving the amateur (at all levels) the ability to pick the right club is going to be the big change.

And besides, surely GPS is better for course conditions. If they were allowed, then think of the millions on extra footsteps that would be saved pacing out yardages etc. They must add up. Would save caddies alot of time and footsteps out on courses days before an event. :p

(clutching straws I know, it's VERY light hearted) :D
