What foods should I eat to keep my energy up on the course?

It's a game of golf not a marathon Idoubt any of the difference is due to food intake. If you get hungry have a bannana

Strange thing is that Tashyboy was given a MOD 24 HR ration pack last week. In it was 3 x muesli/ protein bars. They were gorgeous. Not like your normal bars that leave you bone dry and gagging for a drink.

Just eat what you normally would at those times your on the course, but a little more fluids.

Most of us normally play over a normal mealtime but wait until we have finished to get a bite in the 19th. Why not try to eat your normal food intake during your round, no more no less you should be fine. If you usually snack just have a snack.

Like others say its probably not the 'starvation' the back 9 are probably in your hear, why not try starting on the 10th for once.

The guys from the North West on here are biscuit devotees just don't ask them which is their favourite they'll be fighting it out all week. AmandaJR makes a mean flapjack. Good friend of mine and regular PP often brings out some vold pizza. Personally I'm a cashew nut / Jelly Baby man.

Key thing is to have a regular nibble. I'll have a bit of drink after every hole and a nibble of something every third hole.

Mixed nuts and raisins (Huds special), Banana, Snickers. But I'd never be without a lucozade or 2 a if it's good enough to give to women during childbirth, it's good enough to keep ha going for 18 holes.

Yer a disgrace to your region of birth mate!!!

Bottle of water and a sandwich is plenty. It's a gentle walk through mildly undulating countryside, not a yomp through 40 miles of Falklands terrain.... ;)

I'll say this only once and it's the same response I give to all threads on this topic...

Eat what you like, it won't make a blind bit of difference

You misunderstand my pie eating lovely.

They were recommendations but not necessarily my 'game' habit. A McD's before hand is the norm for me but the lucozade is always in the bag. Nuts are bought if I haven't eaten before playing (normally twilight) as Junior can vouch for.

However, I do apologise on behalf of the whole North-West for including fruit. I mean, imagine that.

I'm appalled with myself.

If you eat a decent breakfast/lunch before play you should have sufficient energy to play 18 holes. It is 18 holes of golf, hardly an endurance/stamina test.

Mind you if you are one of those 5 hour players you may need to stop after 9 holes for a three course meal.

I'm appalled for you mate.. You've really let yourself down there.. But the worst thing is that you've let the rest of us Nor'westers down as well.. I'd go so far as to suggest that this is almost as bad as turning up to an all weekend golf and booze session and drinking Lime and Soda!!!!

i agree Wolfie, he'll be on Mung beans and coconut juice next.

.. isn't there someone who once brazenly ordered Eggs Benedict before a round

Sick of having a great front 9 and disastrous back 9!

Nothing scientific here but I find that having a reasonably sized (ie not huge) pasta meal the night before generally helps keep me going during the round the following morning.baldo supplement this with plenty of water during the round.

I believe the carbs in the pasta are slow releasing and got the tip from a mate whose Dad did marathons in his fifties.
