*** What Food Do You Eat On A Day At Golf ***

I usually have porridge and banana at home.

Always have something in the bag, winter its usually chocolate of some description and water.

Summer Haribo sweeties are awesome and always have a place in my bag. Dont usually eat on the course during the hotter months and mainly concentrate on water intake. However a handful of haribo on or around the turn gives me enough of a sugar boost to get through the back nine as long as the liquid levels are stable enough!

Interesting topic...

I'd normally try and get something in me before i go out. Scrambled eggs, cereal, toast or a banana sandwich or something.

On the course - usually have a bottle of water and a bottle of a sports drink of some kind. A few bananas and a cereal/granola bar of some kind. If i'm playing through lunch i'll sometimes take a couple of sandwiches with me too. I agree with those saying that not getting enough water/food on board can be detrimental to the game.

Afterwards depends on what time of the day i've played.

Do many here play 36 holes in a day? I'd be interested to hear about what people eat between rounds. Often clubhouses will just have a greasy menu and while it's always tempting to go for a burger and chips or whatever, it probably doesn't set you up for the afternoon that well.

Normally i'd go for soup and a sandwich or an ommlette.

I forgot, I also have a hip-flask which I crack out.

Funny you should mention that Jon, I bought one from the chemist on Monday for £2!! was one of them xmas sets they wanted rid of, they also had a waist ball holder, I didnt fancy that one.

Its got to be a bacon butty before tee off & a hot mug of coffee, unless the course I'm playing I have todrive past a Mcd's & then I'll probably have a McMuffin, coffee & a read of the free papers.

On the round it'll be water, fruity snack bars & maybe an apple or banana or two.

Then back at the clubhouse, it'll be a club sandwich, burger & chips, a fry-up. Or even a Steak, if its on the menu.

Gone arethe days when we could treat ourselves to a pint or two, unlessof course I'm out for a second round of 18 in the afternoon.

Macdonalds breakfast on the way for me always.

When playing last year it was 2 bottles of coke some haribos and 10 L&B

This year its 2 bottles of water and haribo

Well before the round, Ive usually had breakfast and possibly lunch as I feel too bad in a morning usually.

During the round I have banana's or apple as you can chuck your rubbish with complete impunity from condemnation and its good for the plants. With this I drink water or on some occasions I take a small flask of coffee if its really cold.

Then I either go home or have something substancial in the clubhouse.

If I am well enough to make an early start in a comp its bacon sandwiches all the way.

Apple cores I can cope with but banana skins are for the bin - I hate when you come across one that's all brown and horrible....

But sammanbee the nutrents they provide for the plants and trees are great, I love seeing them under the trees or in planted areas, great for the ground and donated by good people, not like the yorkie bar wrappers/crisp packets and other chocolate wrappers I frequently come across on golf courses, not to mention the pair of underpants i once came across! :( :D

If I'm playing 36 holes and assuming it is a reasonable day weatherwise I'll normally go for something bland like a ploughmans. Definitely not anything greasy as I do find there is a noticeable energy dip about 6 holes in otherwise.

On club chamionship day the service for lunch between rounds is normally so slow and chaotic that I'll bring a couple of sandwiches and some fruit and either sit in the car park or locker room and have that. They normally put on something like a lasagne anyway so not missing much

Cereal of some sort for breakfast / pre round.

Lucozade sport, boost bar (maybe something else), and possibly a packet of mini cheddars on the way round.

Chips with cheese as a snack when I'm peckish post round.

Porridge and a huge coffee for brekkie.

Lucozade or squash to drink

Werther's Original every 3 holes.

Diet Coke/Pepsi or OJ in the bar.

Throwing anything that is non indigenous away on the golf course is littering, be it coke cans or banana skins. It is all the same, it just takes different times to biodegrade.

Coke cans even when they do degrade are of little use to healthy ground, whereas a banana is, so is an apple. What do you actually think is in many a compost make up murph,
Coke cans, sweet wrappers and disgarded clothing?
Perhaps compost should be considered littering :D
