What does it take ??

Phil, 3 pm's all from different members, none of which I have ever met so yer wee conspiracy theory doesn't quite add up.

Lifes too short to get worked up over an internet forum.
I like to try and treat people the way I would face to face. Sometimes I get it wrong, hopefully most of the time I dont.
As with any forum, you get some who think it's "theirs", but you ignore that and try and participate where you can.
This forum may have some interseting modding, but at least it has mods who do control and no real amount of spam furniture or trainer threads (I'm sure you might know what I mean;) )

Its only a forum, dont like it then move on. Take it with a pinch of salt like I do. Lifes too short and precious to get worked up about it.:)

So back to my original question, seems some can act like a dick and it's fine, so what Does it take ??

One thing I would say is that the more people you meet on this great forum of ours, the better it becomes.

I was a stranger 7-8 years ago, went on a local meet and the rest is history. Me, Lincoln quaker and Birchy have organised many meets in the past consisting of long weekends, 5 day full holidays and lots of other stuff. 40/50 and even 60 odd at some of them, and only the odd divvy.

H4H is another place to meet a load of the southern lads, and others from all over these fair isles. H4H is the singular biggest/best way to meet a load of new associates and even friends. The mods may have met some of these people and its only understandable that they may give them a bit more leeway, as they have met the person and found them to be ok.

A bit harder for you up in Scotland, but you have also poo-pooed meeting up with like minded forummers as a bit sad.......which doesn't help, either.

I find the real gob..... on here are the keyboard warriors, who would never meet that person face-to-face and say the same as the worst.

Don't be a stranger.

As Peter says above, the more you put into this forum the more you get out of it. You can either hide behind a keyboard or you can attend meets, make new friends and get lots out of it

What conspiracy theory ?

As you say “none of them have met” me and I personally haven’t played a round with one mod on here

You don’t see to want to actually take part in the best of the forum - only interested in complaining about what’s happening to you

Your infraction points work as a driving licence- get a certain amount - 2 week ban. Get some more points whilst the others active still and it’s abother ban - get further more points and then it will be a permanent ban - I have no doubt that’s been explained to but you seem to want to ignore it.

This forum is superb - you get tips , you can get equipment from people but best of all you can get to meet some great people and play on some great courses and also do a bit for a wonderful charity

You have a choice - take full part in the forum and let the mods deal with any issues from any other posters

Or you can continue to post threads complaining based on “PMs from other forumers” and no doubt end up being banned - the only one who loses out there is you

That's some spin you've put on what I've said geezer.

I'm a million miles from any meet yet less than a mile from my own course, don't quite get this playing big part in the forum, I've contributed as much as anyone since I've joined...

Anyway, nae mare far me on this topic, I've essentially been told, suck it up, there are those and suck as those, deal with it or leave.

I'll hang around til I'm banned then just do what the rest do and sign up under a different username.

Absolutely... and argue about opinion, not person. There's a few on here I always disagree with, :D but I hope if we met up, we'd laugh about it and have a beer!

100%, I don't think I've ever played with anyone on here I wouldn't jump at the chance to play with again. I haven't played with Fish yet though :ears:

I'm a million miles from any meet

There are often meets in Scotland, in fact a huge one next week at Turnberry although that was organised before you joined. Also a big one at Castle Stuart a few years ago and Trump 2 years ago. The lads also organise plenty of local ones so loads to get involved with if you want to

Ive enjoyed you imput on here TBH, a breath of fresh are and a different perspective on things that have come up before
I'm even further away from any of the meets its southern England, yet i appears you can't be on here unless you go to H4H according to some, but Ive been to plenty of forum meets, but that's not why i joined.. its a place to discuss golf with like minded other golfers.

Too many people on here concentrate too much on the whys and wherefores of others and their lack or otherwise of infractions or bans instead of simply thinking about not getting one yourself...
It's perfectly possible to have quite in-depth arguments or debates on here without resorting to things which end up in bans.

We all know the rules
Play by the rules and you get to play
Break the rules and you don't
What's hard to understand about that?
And who cares of X got an infraction but Y didn't....
Concentrate on not getting one yourself...
Life really is too short and there's a lot of golf to be played..

What do you believe is spin ?

The infractions and the way they work are in the rules - they have an expiry date on them and on your profile you can see them and the date they expire - it’s also in the rules that show what happens when you reach certain amount of points - that’s not spin that’s facts

There are always plenty of meets around the country that you can go too - plenty people go to Scotland or Ireland and plenty from there have been down to games arranged in England especially for some great days or weeks

There is no “requirement” to attend these meets and you certainly don’t get looked down on if you don’t attend them but you would realise that a lot of people on here have met each other and can see that people are different behind a keyboard

You have posted on the forum as much as anyone - but you have also complained loads and posted a fair amount of posts aimed towards people that are going to have a negative reaction - there will always be varying opinion on here - that’s the beauty of it but so far it doesn’t appear that you want to join in with all that - instead the minute a ban finishes you create a thread slating forum members and the mods - not exactly going to go down well is it

Strange thread.

Its a FREE Internet forum with the main subject matter being Golf.
Nobody charges any of us a fee and we are all free to leave.

Surely if the unpaid help who contribute to the running of the site for the benefit of us all are so bad, anyone who doesn't agree with their rules just f@@@'s off somewhere else? Why would you stay somewhere you don't like.
The alternative is to move on, and start your own forum, then you can be the big cheese and define your own rules, answering to nobody.

I joined around the same date as you, I have already been to the Kent meet, played some other rounds at fantastic courses and met some lovely people who share a common interest - Golf.
Next week I am off to Turnberry and Siloth - without THIS forum I wouldn't be playing 2 rounds, with a bed for under £200 at an Open course - and the guys who no doubt spend hours organising such things for the benefit of us all get exactly what, sweet FA?????
I have a few more meets and games arranged for throughout the coming year - there is nothing not to like.

Take a step back, loose the agenda and enjoy the forum, you might actually like it ;)

Good lad! Two Watford fans in a forum meet! Must a first...

You're as bad as Phil and others, where have I said I didn't like it ? All I've really asked is what it takes to not get banned for good, some said don't be a dick, fair comment, in return I said others seem to get away with it, as has been pointed out in the footie thread I'm told.

whoop dee doo for you you've been to a few meets, so what, what actual relevance is that to the forum ? Nowt.

Said I was done in this topic but will probably still respond to what seems to be made up in some folks heads about what I've actually said and what I've not....

Just seen the infractions on my profile there for the first time

I promise to be a good boy :whoo:

Still no driving five hunner mile to play a game gowf wee a bunch oh strangers though just to "fit it"

For me it's simple, GM own the web site and the forum. Mike Harris is the top banana and he decides on the rules and if you break them enough you get the boot.

Mike explains, to anyone who asks, that he doesn't want to have a forum that is not a credit to his magazine as it's regularly read by manufacturers and other golf entities who regularly offer goodies to the forum members and like to read our opinions on all matters golf

I've personally played golf with a few of the mods and they are just ordinary people such are the great majority of forum members but they are charged with keeping the forum within the guidelines set down by GM and I reckon they do that pretty well.

But then Cabby I suspect you know this and are just spoiling for a total blackballing
