what do you change for winter?

Not sure I've ever changed anything. I usually use winter for lessons but I've been having them all year so I'll probably have one more and spend winter bedding it all in.

I might use different balls this year but don't know what yet. Probably NXT tours.

Oh and I'll be keeping my clubs and balls in the warmth of the house rather than the freezing cold of the boot of my car.

Take out the premium balls and use mid range ones instead , apart from that I will still try and play once a week maybe twice if it isnt snowing/frozen

I'm not a great fan of winter golf but here's my list (apart from the obvious extra layers/warmer clothes)

Swap:

White aqualites with soft spikes for black dryjoys with "real" spikes.

White cabretta glove for dark weathersoft glove (warmer and better grip when grips are cold).

Premium ball for something harder (even been known to put a pinnacle into play).

Lob wedge for an extra long club (3 iron or 3h - there's one par 3 on my course that needs it if the wind is up)

Would also usually carry rather than drag a trolley around collecting mud on the wheels, but age is catching up with me!

Finally, given the cold air and extra layers, club up, swing easier and play strategically. The ball isn't going to go as far anyway so why try to blast it.

If it's very wet, I'll grip down an inch and try and clip the ball away rather than hitting down on it. Other than that, it's pretty much just extra layers and waterproof trousers are a permanent fixture through the winter.

Switch to carrying rather than trolley - I'll be wearing the clothes so no need to have them in the pockets. Alternate balls on each hole - keeping the "non-playing" ball in my pocket to keep it warm - it plays better. Switch to "proper" spikes in heavier shoes.

If really bad, get the Wii controller out and play a round with Darren Clarke and Natalie Gulbis at home in the dry.
