This will be my first year for many playing through the winter and just interested to know if or what you change to play equipment wise in the winter months ?

I.e. do you use different clubs, harder (golf) balls etc?

I tend to go for firmer golf balls (AD333 or NXT) as the greens will be softer unless they get frozen in which case nothing will hold and we shouldn't be on them anyway. I don't change my clubs but tend to club up to cope with the restrictions several layers of clothes has.

I find that tucking the cubs up nice 7 cosy in the garage, and only venturing near the course on a bright & dry winter day is the best course of action.

Cant be @rsed with all that bobble hat & winter mitts malarky,.....and dont get me started on frozen greens.......

I'd happily fly south with the birds..........

.......Cheryl Cole, Pixie Lott & Fergie, ...that'd keep me busy. :D ;)

More layers go in the bag ready to be worn, I'll probably use NXT Tours instead of ProV-1's but other than that the kit stays the same....

That is until I fall out with a club and it gets ditched!

Its his daughter......

I'm going to be playing Nike VR Full cavities once the really cold days set in....2 reasons.....

Firstly and most obviously, there's no worse feeling than the finger jarring, bone numbing feeling we've all experienced when the shot doesnt go according to plan in the winter.....it's nice being able to walk up to the ball and just whack it knowing it's almost guaranteed to get airborne and then just pop the winter mitts back on..

Secondly, it will prevent my nice new Mizzies from getting scuffed & scratched!! :D :D

Winter means once a week (if it's open). We still get 60-80 each week so still get some decent prizes which are all bar vouchers :D :D Generally don't take the golf too seriously (how can you?) and just concentrate on winning the fiver and enjoying the day. Only change is the that the Pro-v's stay well away from the course until about March.

I've just changed to Black widow Tour cleats, trying the custom fit of harder spikes on the outside of the shoe and softer inside.

I am thinking of playing minimal comp golf this closed season, last year was really detrimental to my opening season, so I shall be practising and working on a few things but mainly my grip from a very strong one.

The bag usually stays the same in winter but I usually find moving the ball back in my stance an inch works well.

I'll swap to A grade AD333's that I've got hold of and probably play once a week and work on a few swing issues. Apart from that its snooker for me for the winter so indoors, warm and dry! :)
