What did Santa bring you ?

It's very, very rare that I get anything golf related.

I did however get usb rechargeable hand warmers this year, technically not for golf but that's where they're going to get the most amount of use.
I got the same, they feel very warm and will do me well when caddying in the cold weather.

Also got some Footjoy rain gloves and some cash towards a set of new Mizuno Pro 245’s.

The Mrs got me the following,

Sun Mountain Lite Carry Bag
phantom 3 GPS unit
Wood fitting at Precision Golf
Rechargeable hand warmers
Winter mittens

A stack of range vouchers (saves me stopping at pro shop each time I pop to practice) I think that was the only golf related pressie

An Under Armour waterproof jacket; money for a new hybrid; slippers; and tickets for a new play My Master Builder (based on a work by Ibsen I’ll have you know 🙄) with Ewan McGregor in lead role…end April. And a little book of short walks for when we go up to London for the theatre and dinner (not all of the above was actually from Santa).

More to the point, why would anyone make one where the function couldn’t be switched off?
Manufacturers who do not bother to read the rules

think Lynx

or Manufacturers who want their lasers to be 'all sports' and do not care.

Bit late to the party with this one.

Some really nice UA trousers, a Ping gilet, ZeroFit base layer and a dozen ProV1’s. Oh, and a crate of Thatchers.

Nice.

The Mrs is either really switched on or was following precise instructions.

My money is on the latter ;)

Vouchers for me and want to spend them on a watch - between the Bushnell and Shot Scope - would be keen to hear your thoughts on the Bushnell (y)
So, maiden run is over and I like it.
It acquired the satellite quickly, and it still has plenty left in the battery.
It is very intuitive. I didn't read any instructions and manage to find my way around easily, discovering functions as I went along. The hole map, which can be enlarged x 2, the scorecard, green layout and shot distance indicator were easy to access, and easily read, even with my crappy eyes and pork sausage fingers. The touch screen is particularly good.

Two negatives. I'm going to have to read up on the hazard indicators. I have a feeling that it was warning me about trees, which would be a bit of an overkill on a course on which you are either on the fairway or in the trees.
The second issue is more of a personal thing in that they have both our summer and winters courses and while the hole maps are for the correct holes the watch is showing the par for the summer course, as does the phone app (the 2nd is a par 3, the correct map, but it has par at 5 which is the summer 2nd). I can live with it or contact Bushnell and get them to correct it. We'll see.

Finally, the phone app appears to be very good. It links up and syncs with the watch instantly and it didn't eat my phone battery, always a good thing.

I think winter greens and suchlike are just something the gps manufactures can’t account for, so always useful to have a laser / our temps can be changed week to week.

I’m off to the shop tomorrow and solely for the touchscreen was leaning to the Bushnell. The shot scope has the club trackers, but I don’t need to spend an hour on the app once I’m home. I know if I’ve played well.

Thanks!

You have just reminded me. One thing I really wanted to do was test the accuracy against my laser, which is my weapon of choice. Unfortunately, there was a serious fog out there today and the laser was useless, which ironically was exactly the scenario I bought the watch for.

Weather forecast says I can test it tomorrow.

How was the touchscreen?

That’s the decider for me versus the buttons of the Shot Scope.

The white version is £50 cheaper than the black everywhere it seems, but white is a bit Miami Vice for me, so see if the regular shop will let me haggle for the black.
