What could improve your golf club?

My other change would be expensive and, I believe, not possible. Would love the clubhouse to be extended up to allow a balcony overlooking the 9th, 18th and 27th greens. Nothing nicer in the summer than sitting on a balcony with a drink watching other groups come in.

Problem is, aside from the cost, I think that we are limited to a single storey clubhouse as the land is rented from the Belton Estate and we cannot have a clubhouse that would be visible from the house.

Lifeguard chairs.

My consultancy invoice is in the post.

* Some sort of seats or benches at every hole
* Rules that can be enforced on the course about slow players

Cant think of too much else right now

Actually greg has made a point i would change, the club house has zero views of the course. I would move it so it looked out over the 1st tee and 18th green.

Just a short game practice area for me. Course is in good condition, the foods great, clubhouse decent. The only thing holding the club back in my opinion is that very few folk usethe current practice area so are unlikley to create one.

It is a good idea but don't you think the juniors go there to play golf not pool and Xbox? It might be beneficial in getting young people to the course more often to play golf as well as the games room

I'm guessing that the existence of a Juniors Cluib Room would make membership of the golf club more attractive to a wider range of kids - especially as membership for juniors is not very expensive. Notwithstanding the 'facility' I'm guessing that having their own space to pretty much do with as they wish decor-wise etc would be appealing as it would help coungter the 'stuffy, middle-aged blokes' image of golf clubs. Might even make being a member of the club a little bit 'cool' - and you might 'brand' it something other than being the junior section of a golf club.

Stop walkers wandering across the course. Stop dog walkers letting their dogs off the lead to run across Fairways and s**tting anywhere they're inclined - worst of all is that the same walkers and dog owners get abusive if you warn them of the danger of being hit by a ball -amazing.

You mean a wee bit like this one maybe...

Guess it's the sort of thing that part explains why our subs are what they are

In the recent hot/warm spell I'd pop up for a practice putt and chip session then sit outside Spikes bar with a cider for a half hour or so doing just that - watching outgoing on 1st and incoming on 18th.
Perfect.
The only downside is the sun doesn't hit the benches and its a real "windy corner" so it has to be quite warm.
In a discussion over a beer last week we agreed two things that will never happen:
1 swap the practice green (it gets the sun) and the sitting area outside spikes
2 glass/Perspex wind breakers.

The biggest problem our course has is that so much of it can become a "swamp" once the rainy season comes in.
There's nothing worse than getting togged up in skins and waterproofs at 7am for winter comps and waiting until 7.30 to ring for the green keepers recorded message wondering if we're playing or not.
But then there's nothing better than jumping back into bed at 7.35 crying "Woo hoo! Course closed!"
