Im wondering what balls everyone uses as i am undecided on what balls to use. Please state your handicap aswell to see if a certain ball is suited to a specific handicap. Im undecided on Pro V1s and Cally ix

I'm very surprised that someone at your level is asking to be honest.

I guess that you don't lose many or even any during a round, so for me it would be the Srixon ZStar or Pro V1, maybe going for the 'x' model in each if your a faster swinger.

I know Cally do some top end balls, but I've never tried them. Bridgestones 330's are supposed to be as good. Though model will depend on what you're looking for.

My current ball choice is neither here, nor there, as I'm at the other end of the spectrum. :(

I'll use both. The Cally is a bit firmer and clicks a bit more off the clubface but they perform similarly.
I play off 10.

I want a ball thats softer as i hit the ball a long way anyway but something thats really durable. My brother plays the Cally tour ix and he plays off 8 and hes says their the best balls ever, i also know a 3 handicapper who plays them and highly recommends them. I currently play the Pro V1s but find they spin just a bit too much good to watch but demoralising when you see your ball spin off the front of the green after pitching pin high.

At your skill level any top range ball from any manufacturer will benefit you.I think they are much the same at the top level with only the sponsorship deals offered separating the pro's preferences.

Has anyone played the Srixon Z star balls? ive always been a fan of Srixon but when i got better they didnt do great equipment so they had went to the back of my mind.

I'm using the Titleist NXT tour at the mo. 17 handicapper who finds these give both good distance and soft around the green. Also, i'm not good enough to notice the difference with ProV1s and still get REALLY annoyed when i lose more expensive balls!

If you are a very consistant player, especially with a good touch when pitching chipping or putting, what you have said will do you fine. But excuse me for being a little suspicious at your question and motive??

I use the V1x rather than V1 purely cos I want to take a little spin off the ball going into the greens with my wedges.

I've got hold of 2 dozen z stars for £32 and will be giving them a try out once this season has finished

TM burner every time and twice on Sundays.
(Lt Weinburg:- A Few Good Men I believe)
less than £20 per doz and rarely provide sufficient spin to bugger off into the trees, but give sufficient feel for a reasonable short game.
I got fed up of not controlling ProV1s, not too worried about cost of losing a ball, which i often did, more about cost of losing a shot or 2.
Handicap dropped at least three shots since switching ball types. Now playing off 9.

Hcp 16 -using Nike one platinums and tours -great feel and distance though I hear they get a bit scruffy after 2-3 rounds but I don't usually have them for that long. :) ;)

I love the Z star ball. I was a fan of the URC and these are the replacement. I get a good amount of control around the green and a nice feel off the putter. I have been trying some of the Nike one blacks I got from GM and like those too (sorry to add another ball into the mix)

I've discovered that the Nike's are very difficult to find when you hit them sideways...........
Lost all mine in no time at all. Z-star is a good one - nice and soft. And quite durable too.

Im going to buy one of the following balls: Cally Tour i & ix, Srixon z star & z starx and Titleist Pro V1 & V1x to see what ball performs the best from tee to green and the feel off the putter face.

I am using Srixon AD333's as they are middle of the road and cheap, I think I got three dozen for £33 on Ebay inc free postage. I just can not justify paying over £20 for a dozen balls in this climate.

I'm using Wilson Staff DX Softs at the moment, and love them. But I found a brand new Callaway HX Hot Bite in a water hazard on Sunday morning and carried on using that from the 7th tee. It flew bloody miles!!!!!

I'm a 25 handicap so at the minute I'm using lake balls I bought in Argos. I was looking to buy something decent but not willing to spend much money on them to be honest so what do people think of the Srixon AD333 that Parmo is playing with, would they be a good starting point for a high handicapper?
