Much as I would like to drop a category, I'm realistic enough to know that dropping from 10 to 5 isn't going to happen, So I have gone for other just get the handicap as low as I can.

Hi all,

Thanks,

Nick

2016 will be my first full year as a golfer. I'm looking to start scoring rounds that actually register on the handicapping side of things... so under 28 over par. I hope to have some lessons, lots of practise, and a bit of luck!

As always Rule 1 is to play as much as possible and enjoy it
But next year I do have a "first" that will happen.

I will play a Links course for the first time.

Get lessons - Already doing it
Drop handicap category - Cannot go lower
Play new courses - Off to Belek in March
Join a club - Already a member
Win a medal or club championship
Go on a golf holiday - See play new courses
Other - Couldn't think of anything

Went for win a medal which is something i haven't done for years.

Going on my first golfing holiday abroad with 15 other blokes so looking forward to that.
Im actually going to travel less this year and play my new home course more I have no intention of playing my old course.

I have a few forum meets lined up but much less than the year just gone.
I cant retain my Club champs as I believe it clashes with the holiday.

Need to get to the elusive Cat1

Other for me ,i need to get back to fitness so i can start playing again ,i havent played since my accident in august, not likely to until at least march at the earliest.
still might need another operation yet.

Loads of things really without anything specific; play as much as possible, help junior to get better, win a trophy, try some new courses, play for the club as much as possible, get down to naught point something. Same old stuff for aims but little of it matters, just happy to be playing tbh.

I see the the surgeon who did the original op again on the 8th feb next year,i have got to have an ultra scan between now and then ,the result of which will determine wether i need the op or not. so its fingers crossed.

Hope it works out and the scan reveals no need for the second op. Even so, hope the second one fixes it and you'll be back in time for summer sun on your back

Drop in handicap ; spent some time figuring out my weak points after a string of .1,s , took tips off 2 higher handicappers . 1 guy has a magic short game . other guy great at putting so ive been working on them during our winter league .. very confident in my ball striking so looking forward to improving even more & building on that & be ready when qualifiers kick in .. seems so far away at min tho ..
