When you don't play very well do you moan and groan your way round the course putting off everyone around you? Do you keep yourself to yourself and just try to fix the problem? Do you just ensure you are good company even though you can't get anything going?

And what are you like if SOMEONE ELSE is playing badly?

Re: What are you like when you play BADLY

I sulk, followed by some club snapping, some moaning, and then a lingering silence.

Strangely, I'm the same when I play well too.

Re: What are you like when you play BADLY

Usually annoyed with myself, but not a ranter and raver.

It depends on the quality of player im playing with that dictates what I say if they are playing badly. I don't think im best placed to give advice to cat 1 or 2 player, as it may sound like im taking the piss

Re: What are you like when you play BADLY

I tend to be the same which ever way I play. It would be hard for you to know if I was 10 over or level playing the 18th unless you had followed me round the course.
I hate people who moan about everything, to hell with others on the course. I have a m8 who is unbeleivable to play with, we do argue from time to time..............

If i am having a bad one I just sort of give in to it and enjoy the round. I usually find that when i do this my performance improves. I think it's important to respect your playing partners and enjoy the round, it's not like i get out that much so i aint letting a bad round spoil it.

In saying that i will have a bit of a moan sometimes, but only ever at myself. There's nothing worse than playing with someone who goes off on a tantrum every 3 shots, and then decides not to speak for the rest of the round. There's more to life in my book

i have a right laugh about it. i play with the same 3 guy's all the time. bad shots are constantly followed by piss taking and extreme laughter.

i've hit shot's that bad that when i've tunred round my pals are rolling on the floor. it does keeps spirits up by providing entertainment :D

''can't beat them, join them''

I played with a mate the other day, 4BB against a couple of guys who both had really good back 9's. We were 1 up going into the 16th, tough little par 3. Myself and my partner both hit the green, he was considerably closer than me, certainly a good birdie opportunity.
The other two guys were first to play and both of them secured their pars. I putted, just shaved the hole for my birdie but it was a gimme half.
My playing partner had about a 5 foot putt for birdie, to lock the match out. He left the putt about 3 feet short!! I couldn't believe it. He's usually a reasonable putter and I was aghast that he had missed such a simple putt. Did I get annoyed? Did I have a go at him? No...
I just said something like "you've dropped your lipstick mate" or words to that effect. I never let anything upset me.

I'm pretty much the same either way, normally pretty happy.

I play this game for fun. If I was huffing and puffing, and moaning my way round, it wouldn't be enjoyable.

Weird, I played with a mate the other day in a 4BB and at the 16th hole he had secured a half with a par 3 giving me a free run at a birdie putt from about 6 feet, I was so pleased for him that he'd finally made a par that I totally forgot my putt was now a freebie for a birdie and subsequently dollied it 6 inches short after trying to roll it in dead weight... he said something about lipstick... Oh how I was laughing! :D What are friends for if it isn't for comments like that? :D :D

When i first started i used to get very annoyed with myself...
Now though i just normally have a good ol chuckle at the bad rounds or shots...If im playing really crap i just forget about the card and just try and work on some things for the rest of the round...
Usually chipping and putting...

If someone else is playing bad i try to give them a little positive reassurance saying maybe if we were good all the time we'd be on TV every week....And even the Pro's have there off days....Chin up ;)

What i do struggle with is trying not to let there bad round impact me....As i have a habit of looking at everyones shots that i play with for fear that they hit a wayward one and they dont see the end of it....Maybe if iv been watching it then the process of looking for it will be sped up....But blanking out their bad shot becomes a slight problem for me at times... :D

I get really frustrated with myself if I play a bad shot but will try to overcome it with positive thinking etc. and definitely try not to spoil the mood of the players I am playing with.

I won't slam my clubs down, attempt to snap them or carry on in such a way.

I will however, get home and rearrange the kitchen, haha.

Ash!!

Whoops, apologies ash, I thought you were a bloke :D

I talk to myself a little to try and get it out of my system by the next shot. Hate 3 putts though.

I never drag a bad mood round the course with me.

If I hit a bad shot I might have a good swear or smash my club into my bag, but as soon as that's done it's over.

I generally stay pretty cheerful and positive when im playing badly, but twice this year i've lost my head and been a right pain in the backside to play with. Smiffy, Golf Mad, and Adrenalin experienced one of those occassions at Ascot, but im sure they've seen worse. It is embarrasing when I look back at how bad golf can cause me (and many others) to behave. Apologies to anyone who ever gets on the wrong end of my 'stroppy teenager' routine.

I am a bloke.

Re-arranging the kitchen was a figure of speech.
