Wednesday decided enough was enough for my R9 and went to AG and had a custom fit session for a new driver.
Came out with, wait for it, a new R9 driver. The 460 version this time with a stiff shaft. I tried a number of different drivers and shaft combos. Tbh, the guy said on the launch monitor there was little to choose between my R9 420 with a reg shaft and the 460. I just felt I hit the 460 way better and felt much more confident with it in hand.
Come Friday I get a meeting invite from the powers that be saying they need to talk to me today. Usually this is going to be either really good or really bad. Obv, it's good
They told me I've just got the promotion I've been thinking I'll never get.
If I had to write a job description for my perfect role, this would be it. So chuffed.
Now the golf bit. Played in today's trophy with my new R9 and had the round of my life. Shot an 86 (best ever by 1 stroke) for 45 points. Never in any trouble, and that's with about 3 putts that just lipped out as well.
My golf has been going backwards recently and I haven't even come close to that kind of score in probably 4 months.
So I'm over the moon right now.
And finally to top it all off. I'm now off for 2 weeks and I'm flying out to Greece tomorrow for a week of doing nothing but lying round the pool. Followed by a week of golf when I get back home.
