A medal round today and generally the best I have played for quite a while.
I started bogey, bogey, par, par, bogey (including a penalty drop), par, then on the par 4 7th this happened
A decent drive, a little to the right so I didn't have a good shot to the green so played wide of the trees but just caught the last few branches and ended up amid the trees, a picked a path through but just caught the last tree, only a thin one, and the ball bounced into to roots of another, I went to knock it out but the ball bounced up and hit me so a penalty shot, finally got it onto the green but a 9 was the result.
I recovered to finish the first nine with a birdie and a par, then I was a bit erratic double, par, double, par, bogey, double (parred the 2nd ball after putting the first drive into the woods), par, then I arrived at the par 5 17th
I hit a lovely long drive that meant I could take on a ditch, I mostly have to lay up before, I hit a good 3 wood but it sadly went a little right and caught the branches of a tree and bounced back and into the ditch, I took a drop and hit a poor shot, still had the chance to hit the green but the next shot wasa bit thin and finished right up against a solitary tree, I went to knock it sideways but hit a root, finally found the green but finished up with a 10.
Finished the round with a par on the last.
So I had 8 pars and a birdie but the round was ruined with 9 and 10, I still finished in my buffer but I was so close to a nice cut.
