.....is why he will never win a major.

I thought I was watching my club legend Big Wullie...(loves the putter from 60 yards short of the green!).

Makes me feel better about mine.....rank rotten compared to many,it shows you how good the rest of his game is.

I'm expecting the addition of a chipper tomorrow.

Can't we ship the infamous "golden chipper" down to Sandwich with love from the GM massive. :D

i thought his short game was fine today; just his drivinga dn irons was a tony bit off, so he was always hitting from teh light rough and leaving long putts. Then he had lots of putts just go past the hole.

Reckon he will be contending come Sun

God i wish i could type ...
reminded me a bit of Allo Allo :D

I have always thought Lee has been keen to take the putter far to often just of the green. Definitely thought in the Masters 2010 that this was what lost him the title.
Strangely enough I think his driving which is supposed to be the best part of his game, lets him down in pressure situations as well.

If someone wants to send me a ticket for the weekend then I would happily deliver it (on the proviso that it is back in time for the Rutland meet, he is welcome to play for the honour of keeping it though)

Thats a novelty, Dodger having a pop at Westwood. Not like he's being mullered by Donald and McIlroy with his so called poor short game.

Homer, are you telling me questioning his short game isn't valid.. especially today?

It was shoddy, so having a 'pop' as you put it is 100% valid.

Next.

Can't have been all bad to be tied with the US Open champ. We all know he isn't the greatest short game player in the world but as he's usually pretty straight he does enough to get it round. Seeing as he was out to +3 at one stage and got it back to an ok +1 in arguably the tougher conditions its not the end of the world. I don't care if he puttd from 100 yards porviding he makes pars and birdies. No pictures on the scorecard and I'd love to see him win

Yes he got back to plus 1 but that was after the weather calmed down. According to 5 Live (best I can get during the day) the weather was pretty innocuous for his last few holes.

Homer I hate to say it but I think Lee has been fortunate getting to the position he is in (world ranking wise). Dont get me wrong, he is a professional and deserves to be in the top 100, but just not quite up there with the greats with his short game. What will our kids remember him for?
Some weeks he is good, some weeks he isnt. You find that the guys who are renowned short game players are good at it every week, their driving may be poor but they can grind out the results with up and downs.
Lee is having to rely on this part which is at best, average for the tour guys. At the moment there are quite a few guys I would put ahead of Lee ability wise, Schwartzel, Donald, McIlroy, Kaymer to name but a few. At the moment he is getting round and fair play to him for it, for my money I reckon he would agree that he is not on top of his game.

With regards to how he is doing in the Open, its early yet, wait and see his stats at the end of tomorrow / Sunday. I fear he is turning into another monty.

Monty has since admitted that his putting wasn't good enough to let him win majors, could be in a couple of years that Westwood has to admit that his so-so chipping has cost him the chance to win a Major.
St Georges looks like the kind of course, especially in the wind, when you're going to be doing a lot of chipping.
I like Lee but I wouldn't back him this week.

I work with a lad who used to play with Westwood as a youngster in the northern juniors and he says it was always short game that let him down. His exact words were that the short game was shocking and always will be. He just doesn't have it.
