Westwood moving to America.

I think it makes sense from a family point of view as he must spend an enormous amount of time flying back and forth over the Atlantic but, like others, I wonder if he has left it too late.

I think he is making a mistake because America is packed to the rafters with fat people, nutcases, gym obsessed airheads, rednecks and bible thumpers.

Most importantly, less than 0.1% of Americans have any table manners and this alone should preclude anyone from wanting to live there.

Fingers crossed he makes it a short stay and returns to Blighty before he adopts Tiger-speak as a golfing dialect!

Can't blame him, sure looks a lot more exciting to be playing on the PGA tour than the dull European tour. Also having achieved everything in golf except a major it will hopefully give him that extra edge to to get that win.

Just smacks of desperation.

Although if its more about the way our country is being run and he sees Uncle Sam as a better place to raise his kids then I can see why.

He'll move to Florida and live in a big expensive house in a gated community. Poulter, Rose, GMac and Rory all live in the Orlando area, so he'll probably go there. Luke Donald lives in Chicago but the winters there are worse than Worksop.

As has been said, he's done all there is to do in golf except win a Major. Whatever he's been doing isn't quite working, so perhaps this will be the catalyst that finally takes him over the line? It might not be but a change can be as good as a rest, or so they say. Better weather for golf too, so why wouldn't you?

It's got to be worth a try.
If it enables him to aclimatise better, get more used to the courses etc then he's going to have more chance of landing a biggy.
If it doesn't work - what's he lost?

This is the main point. He's got nothing to lost at this point. He's achieved everything; order of merit, multiple tour wins, ryder cup wins, World Number 1. Gives his kids a chance to grow up in a different culture and gives them more life experience and will probably be a better way of life and to top it all off it might finally help him fall over the line to get a major. If it doesn't work out, he moves back to Worksop.

The ONLY thing he needs to do is putt better, if he can mange that he will win a major. Although I don't know if he is able to.

Speaking as one who has decided to live in another country ( better life/work balance for us ) I know exactly where he is coming from. Doubt this is a spur of the moment decision and best of luck to him and his family.
As mentioned above ( sorry hang on just watching Chris Gayle ) you cant under estimate the toll flying takes out of you flying long haul, yes he goes business class but if you follow him on twitter you'll know he suffers badly from jet lag.

We need more events in the United Kingdom on the European Tour, the crowds at the BMW PGA Championship this year were great and I feel that would be replicated if we had other events on the European Tour here too.

He should have moved years ago. He'll have fast greens to practise on all year round and if he can improve his short game by a few percent it might well be the difference between winning a major and being an also ran. Although if he wins the Open next month..

Perhaps he likes mashed potato. Sounded like there were a lot of sellers at the US Open.

To regenerate the European Tour just bring back Pro-Celebrity Golf.

Good move.

PGA Tour has a major feel most weeks. Bigger crowds, better players, more money etc. The European Tour bar Wentworth, The Open and a few events in the Middle East is watched by one man and his dog and lacks drama.
