Westwood is gash!

Ah, perfect Sunday afternoon reading. Thinly veiled anti English tripe as per usual.

I used to really love Scotland, but then I joined this forum......

Totally agree. Shame that some parts of what in general is a big and friendly Scottish contingenty seem to try and turn every thread into some antiEnglish dig. For the record I don't care really who wins any title as long as it is compelling viewing. I am a big Westwood fan and have made no secret of that and of course feel disappointed that he has so many near misses recently. I don't know if it has become a pscychological issue rather than just a ropey short game but he isn't the player of to seasons back.

I just wish we could have an end to any us v them attitude, certainly when it comes to the golfing threads but perhaps Westwood has more chance of a major than certain elements stopping their "fun"

Call me an old fuddy duddy, but although I liberally use the F word and a small select thesaurus of swear words, I really don't like the description of Westie used in the title of this thread.

On the main question, I think it is 50/50 at best whether he will complete his career with a major. His tee to green game is certainly up to it, but these events are won with the short game. My 4 year old saw me watching golf on TV one day and asked me why that man didn't hit his ball in the hole. "That's Lee Westwood, son" was the reply which he accepted without further question. Then shortly after he said "That man hit HIS ball in the hole". "That's Rory McIlroy, son" was my answer that time.

Do you want a kleenex?

How many Scots have been ranked world number 1 in the last 20 years? I don't see any Scots in the world top ten and to be fair lee's 4th at the moment and he's been Top 5 for a long while. Shame they always have to put a Scot in the Ryder Cup Team to prop the rest of the list up

Not a bite but that token Scot you speak of has something Westwood will never have a MAJOR win and the best one to boot The Open.

He's 4 over after 6 today!
Must be badly injured or something.

Just hope things imrpove next week.....

Yeh so do I hope things improve for next week cos at this rate he might not get a game till the Sunday singles, Olly could put him out first kinda lamb to the slaughter or put him out last and hope that the rest of the team can get the job done.

Better still Sam. Don't play Westy Friday or Saturday and on Sunday declare him injured and claim the half match. That way he will at least contribute.

That's probably ideal, certainly win win as far as I can see!

I can only assume that's a wind up.

If not it's a complete pile of pish.

Westwood, dodgy short game or not, will be a crucial part of the team this week.

1 fishing rod, so many bites. Anti English? Give me a break ffs, all you racists want to get a grip

As for Westwood, great player but has a short game I'd be disappointed with and as for form.............. Hope it gets better kinda quick.

Not sure that would work, think we would need to concede the match and the point, no real harm done cos the way he is playing it is a lost point anyway. He could help make the tea and polish the shoes.

You'd be disappointed with? Sorry I forgot Monty was 'REDHOT' with a putter. I bet we see his short game improve long before we ever see a Scot in the top 10

Yes I would be disappointed if I had a short game like Westwoods. As for Monty, does his game need defending?

Looks like even I got a bite without even trying
