Have you considered changing your clubs three times to get to scratch?
Have you considered changing your clubs three times to get to scratch?
That's great going Mac and all credit to you.
I know that the AP's will get me there and all my practice is pretty much short game now, but, the theory is that I hit a few poor shots in most rounds and a while back changed from a Titleist driver to a Ping G15 because it was just so much easier to hit and I made more fairways and I was wondering whether a change to an easier iron set would do the same.
Like I said, just a few months! :whoo:
you are both dam old - don't start squabbling over a few years!!:ears::ears::clap:![]()
I've been thinking about my assault on single figures this year after getting down to 10 late in 2013. Part of the thinking has involved in some short game lessons and I've just booked another 8 weekly lessons on a deal I couldn't say no to.
So, I've played Titleist AP'2 for three years now and generally hit them ok, but, whilst looking with a golfing pal for easier clubs for him to play we both wondered whether game improvement clubs were the way for me to go too. I hit a Ping G25 demo iron a few days ago - yes, I'm old enough! And I couldn't hit it badlly, even on the iffy swings, so, if I could save 3 shots a round by using easier clubs would I be a fool not to go that way?
It seems to me that vanity over what clubs I play should possibly be less of a consideration than how, whatever I use, performs
Any views?
At the risk of becoming a stats bore (ahh what the hell, I am a stats bore), do you know where you are actually losing your shots?
I'd have a read of this then maybe try to think where your 10 shots or so per round are lost http://www.columbia.edu/~mnb2/broadie/Assets/broadie_wscg_v_200804.pdf.
I know you say you're having a short game lesson, but there's always shots to be saved by avoiding ending up in a 'short game' situation in the first place. Chances are though, the way to take your handicap down is by just getting better at everything, so keep up with the lessons and practice.
That's interesting Ian as my coach has said he want me to work on weaknesses highlighted by stats. He wants me to do Golf Stats Lab so that we know where I drop most shots. I think that I certainly could make a few more putts and second shots always could be improved upon as well as grooving the short fame with the lessons I've had.
