Well, that was a poor run

More hassle than they are worth, pre registering and I don't see the point when I generally play enough comps.
Most of my out of competition play is match play or balls ups where we play for speed and convenience and most RoG are followed but not all.
That’s good. At my place I put in gp scores as there aren’t that many comps and I often miss them due to other commitments.

This year I've made a conscious effort to not play on weekends....hence only a couple of comps. Especially while playing at Oakdale, they use the IG app and all you have to do is get on your phone a register before playing and have someone in your group varify your score. At the other course I usually just play in rollups and don't bother.

I'm playing fairly well at the moment, and as a result of that my next 5 oldest rounds going off the bottom are all non-counters. So having just got down to 14.3 yesterday, I'll be staying there for at least 5 more rounds.

One of the roll ups I play in has a requirement that players must put in a GP card to win the pot. It is a comp after all. I tried to get my Saturday group to do the same but met with too much opposition, one of the players in that would be about 5 shots lower if we did it, he has shot several 40 +points scores in the past couple of months.

That would be a no from me. Who wants to be forced to put in a score for hcp in poor weather, especially if blowing a gale as it often is where I play?
Simple solution is to cut people who win your roll up.

In poor weather very few of us go out in the first place.

Cutting is what I do with the Saturday group but there are still complaints about players not putting cards. A couple of years ago we kept the scores from one guy who played in both swindles and when the annual review came up he was cut 5 shots based upon his swindle scores.

Just had a run where my last 6 rounds were all non-counting, but replaced rounds that were also non-counting.

With a free run I had expected my handicap to drop, but I played all my good golf in match play and reserved the rubbish for comps. Handicap will be going up now as I have a run of good scores dropping off next.

I've only got 3 counting in my next 10 rounds and they are 6.4, 5.5 and 3.9 differentials. I'd have expected to replace the 2 high ones anyway. It's essentially all the gash I've been playing since April that I will be replacing. 4 of my counting scores have came in the last 6 rounds.

My oldest of the 20 is 21st May. Not bad going for someone who works full time Mon-Fri in my opinion and should be enough to avoid cries of banditry through not putting enough in!! I put in a card most Saturdays and Sundays and a 9-holer on Wednesday evenings. My counting cards are pretty spread out - my latest one took me to 11.5 which is the lowest I've been, but a counter is coming off next and it's sort of one of my middle ones, so it could hop back up a bit again.

EDIT: No it isn't, that's in 2 cards time. The next one to come off is my highest counter which I should be able to beat. So maybe down, then up. Maybe up then down. Maybe neither. Funny that

Played 36 holes in the Club Championships yesterday...my second round ballsed up my recent scoring run which had seen me shoot six "counting" scores in a row.

My current counters are rounds 2-7, 16, 20...so I have 8 non-counters in a row (8-15) but it is possible that one of them might be a counter in the near future, as it is only 1 shot worse than the current 20th score. In all likelihood though, it wont be long (6 rounds) before I have a very "front loaded" set of counting scores and will have no good ones dropping off.

A couple of weeks ago my differentials were 8.5, 6 x 11.3 and a 12.2....now I've had one of the 11.3's replaced by a 6.6.
