Well done Wenger

Been waiting a few years to change your avatar Sean ?

Ha Ha!

I couldn't resist hopefully it wont be the same avatar for the next 9 years!

I love how Wenger keeps proving doubters wrong. People were slating Mertesacker, Koscielny and more recently Giroud. But at the end of the day they are decent players that are still finding their feet in the premier league. OK Wenger has bought some duds over the years but he can be forgiven for making mistakes, he is after all only human.

I had to switch Collymore off on the radio the other day. He was ripping into Giroud but at the end of the day he played a big part in the winning goal and at 20+ goals for the season he aint all that bad.

I dont think anything have been proved wrong in terms of doubts - if he changes things this season then possibly things will be proved wrong but would need a major rethink from Wenger

On the players mentioned that are "finding their feet"

Koscielny has been at the club 4 season now

Mertesacker 3 seasons

How much longer do they need to "find their feet" ? They have a combined total of just under 300 games for Arsenal

And as for Giroud - 2 seasons now he has been at the club. Think he is actually a good player , will score a decent amount of goals but as the clubs only main striker ?! Need big options up there - if you had got Higuain in the summer then thinks i believe could have a been a bit different. Going into a season with just Giroud as your one main striker is just asking for trouble.

As for Collymore - why oh why didnt your turn off the minute the voice was heard :D

The point is, it can a couple of seasons to adjust to the premier league and thereafter players may continue to improve year on year. Ozil is struggling a bit , he mentioned the other day that he finds the PL exhausting and that he couldn't believe that teams still fight when 3-0 down whilst in Spain they give up after 2-0 down. Next year I expect he will be a different player (assuming he stays). Same could be said for Poldolski, I think we will see some improvement with him next year as well. With Walcott back and a couple new signings Arsenal will be stronger. We are not as far away as people think to having a really good team.

Arsenal do need to score more goals I'll give you that but its not all about the strikers, some midfielders need to chip in with more as well. Liverpool's strikers have been on fire this year but Arsenal only finished 5 points behind and 2 places in the league.

...We are not as far away as people think to having a really good team....
This should be, or maybe is, the motto of Arsenal fans!

The team does seem, to me, to be improving year on year, but very slowly and still has the same weaknesses - defensive frailty and the first 10 minutes!

Whatever your views on Wenger, he consistantly provides a top four side and so at least gets a chance at the CL via qualifying (and they should make it) and a side that has proved it can be there or there abouts for long periods of a season. They lost a couple of key players to injury at crucial times but I think if he can make a couple of quality signings (a 25 goal per season striker a la Henry) and a defender or two they won't be far away again. They've proved they can compete in Europe (certainly on a par with most other English side's performances) and I think he's done enough now to justify the contract and it'll be interesting to see if at last they can now kick on

As I have said before... Plenty of clubs that would be more than happy to have achieved the same level of 'failure' Arsenal have whilst AW has been in charge...

It was established the first time you posted that sentiment that 'plenty of clubs' don't have the resources, history, season ticket prices, worldwide fanbase, etc. of Arsenal.

Perhaps Arsenal should be content with survival in the Premier League since ~80 of the 92 League teams would be more than happy with that?

If the club had 'suffered' several 'off the pace' seasons then I suspect I'd be very much amongst those calling for change... But I feel this is not the case... I have seen 'our' nearby neighbours make [seemingly] continuous changes in management with no real return in terms of league position or pots won... Same could be said of others...

I suspect if I was on the terraces week in week out [as I once was] I'd be a bit more critical but right now I am reasonably happy with AW's steady ship approach... Plus ,truthfully, I am not absolutely convinced there is anybody in the club's hierarchy I'd trust to select a worthy replacement...
