Final show from Top Gear that is....

Understand why they aired it but without the proper 'live' studio audience it was indeed quite lifeless...

Believe they should've just stuck it on a DVD and dished it out with next copy of the Top Gear magazine....

I really enjoyed the episode and was laughing all the way through, but felt a bit empty and sad at the end, and the lack of Jeremy to say bye. It felt very lifeless and and incomplete as an ending. Looking forward to seeing them return on Netflix next year. Won't be the same without them.

I saw the last 20 seconds where Hammond and May were saying goodbye. Incredibly sombre the way they did it. Was quite sad really and made you realise how big a turning point the show has reached. If Chris Evans and co's job was hard enough, I think it got a lot harder after that ending.

I got the impression that the 2 of them last night didn't really want to do the show but the VT's had taken quite a lot of work to be moth balled, and I suspect they were obliged being under contract.

About half way through my son rang and said his washing machine was leaking all over the floor so I had to do the 6 miles to his place faster than the Stig, so will have to do catch up TV for the end

There was a good article in The Sunday Times yesterday by Andy Wilman about the last episode, basically saying how sad it was.

Tg has been getting tired for a couple of years now. It's been quite stale with the same thing each week. I don't particularly like Hammond since the crash he seems to have tried to find an identity and he's just different. I reckon this is probably his presenting style though and he'd be a bloody good bloke to share a pint with.

It's a shame that it's ended the way that it has BUT it'll be nice to see the new TG with Chris, Guy and Jodie and it'll be good to see a renewed format hopefully on ITV.

One thing that I hope isn't lost in the cinematography. Some of the films and features are pure art. There really was some stunning work, imagination and effort applied.

GudNIGHT

What's the new TG format going to be? Live audience or back to the magazine style that it was originally? Either way it's going to be difficult to for them. A live audience format means they will forever be compared unfavourably to Clarkson/May/Hammond, a magazine style is fine for committed car buffs but loses the entertainment factor that has attracted a much wider audience.

Chris Evans is all about live TV (TGI Friday making a comeback) so it would make sense to be a live link show.

Good show I thought. I did LOL a few times.

Intentionally soul-less with the links between the VT. On reflection maybe it is time to move on.

everything changes and TG has had its 15 minutes, it's a DAVE favourite now and somehow doesnt have the same appeal on a Sunday morning.

Has anyone other than Chris Evans been confirmed yet? Jodie Kidd is a bit wooden on The Classic Car show, mind you, the scripted 'banter' with Quentin Willson is just terrible so it might not be her fault. I don't think Guy Martin would want or be able to do a full presenting role but he's watchable so might be good for pre-recorded features. I've just finished his autobiography (excellent, by the way) and he doesn't really like doing TV work very much.

As someone else has said, TG has seemed a bit stale over the past few series so maybe it'll benefit from a new format with new presenters. I think Clarkson, May & Hammond are bound to turn up on one of the commercial channels though so it could be win-win for petrolheads.

Nah only CE has been confirmed, but he was the name bandied about originally with the other two as sidekicks. I'd imagine that's still the case. If anyone else turns up to co-host then i guess it'll be because either of them didn't want the gig.
