Hi there I was wondering how many wedges were too many and what kind of set ups yous all use . I currently use a pw / aw / 52 and 60 wedges although I do have a 56 which ive taken out to replace with the aw as I didn't really use it. Im about to change clubs and im thinking of going pw /aw /54/58 in my new set up . would appreciate any opinions

Some will discount the pw as a specialist wedge, I personally go pw to 52,56,60. Some will carry more, some only 2 say a 54 and a 58. Very personal. A lot can be dictated by where you play, I heard stories of people with the same loft wedge, but one high bounce, one low bounce...

Do you feel like you can pay every shot you need with you current set up? If not, what's missing?

Phil mickelson carried 5 wedges at muirfield! But he is slightly better than us muggles...

I am puzzled by the need for PW, AW and then 52. Unless your iron lofts are very strong and you PW is 43, AW 46 or 47 then it makes more sense.
Personally I use 47º PW, 52º and then 56º. Personal preference and take that set up with me where ever I play.

Its not just loft but bounce, types of courses played etc that need to be considered. I carry 45ºpw, 52º, 56º, 60º but dropping the 60 as never use it at the moment and having it in the bag just adds an extra conundrum lol. I am actually thinking of going PW/52/58 but we shall see :)

Im carrying a pitching wedge, 52º, 56º and 60º.
The 60º only comes out when the lie is good and im striking the ball well as I'm just as capable of hitting it beautifully as I am hitting it like a pig and adding in an extra shot or two.

Really depends on the make up of your irons as well as to what wedge lofts you'd need to look at.

For example my PW is 43* which in reality is more like a 9iron! So As well as the 54* & 60* in my bag i've added a 49* to bridge the gap.

Best is find out whats comfortable for you and go with that.

I've got 45* pitching wedge, and then go in 5* to 60*... so 45, 50, 55 and 60.

Find this gives me consistent distances between wedges so less judgement required around 100 yards... basically, wedge from 100m, 50* from 90m, 55* from 80m... less than 80m, depends on the shot, but 55* is favourite and the moment, 50* if I want to keep it lower. Only really use the 60 for the occasional shot when it needs to get up and down quickly...no full shots.

My wedges don't come in different bounces....apparently the sole has varying bounces... seems to work for me but maybe just not good enough to see the difference

I have the same wedges and lofts as you. Scor are nice clubs.

PW, 52 and 58 for me.
Used to have pw, 50, 54, 58 but felt I was missing a club at the top end so dropped the 54 and 50 for a 52.
Seems to work for me reasonably well...

That's a pretty big coincidence for a niche brand, same lofts...same shafts!

I'm really happy with mine, they play really well... also not so popular so you feel like you have something a bit unique (until now!)

Did you get yours sent from the US?

Yep. Ordered on Monday and the UPS man came knocking on Wednesday morning!

Lofts are irrelevant imo. It's distances(s) and function that are important to me.

Sand Wedge is essential but i don't use it off fairway or seml.

I do have use for a LW and a slot, so carry one.

I could just about get away with using the 8i or PW around the green, but the GW I have works well. There's a tiny bit of overlap, but I wouldn't want to risk changing the setup as low bounce wedges work best for me.

So plot your distances and choose clubs that cover those rather than choosing 'balanced' lofts. As it happens, mine are 'balanced' though!

Currently I have PW then a 52* and 58*. Increasingly I am finding myself wanting a little more distance than the 58* provides and a bit more up n down near the greens so will probably go 52, 56, 60 soon. I think the shaft is important in the wedges-some people swear by DG Spinner shafts for example but others get nothing from them!

I'm on the lookout for a reasonably priced wedge, currently got a big gap between PW and SW (43 and 54).
Not sure I have the skill to merit getting a higher degree wedge (58 ish) quite yet.

im currently using ping g20, have a bit of a problem myself. i carry pw 45degree, u 50 degree, sw 54 degree which i never use in sand as it does not seem to have enough loft, lw 58 degree only used out of sand as its perfect, 60 degree gorge wedge, perfect for tight lies and little chips over bunkers really love this club. Wish i could drop one but seem to need them all.

I have four wedges a 45[SUP]O[/SUP] a 50[SUP]O[/SUP], 56[SUP]O[/SUP] and 62[SUP]O[/SUP] I know my yardages for each of them and the bounce isn't that low as normally my course is quite forgiving and a low bounce would just dig in.

PW(45) SW(55) TW(64), use the SW an awful lot from bunkers and full shots from the fairway and use the 64 for the more difficult bunker shots with a close pin or a close approach shot to a green over one of the many ditches we have on the course. I've just bought a LW (60) and I'm going to drop my 3W out to accommodate it as I prefer to use my 5W and the 3W hardly gets any use. So I'll see how I go on, and may drop the 64 as I can see a 50 being useful.
