Wedge spin and balls

I am not wanting to spin the ball back as such, more just get to it to stop, at the moment it bounces multiple times then rolling in it another 5-10 yards

Wedge carry distance

58 -88 yards
54 - 105 yards
Gw which is 49 degrees about 120
Pw 45 degrees is 131

Average over 10 shots on gc2

Back spin with my gw and a prov1 on gc2 was about 7500

Not done spin on my other wedges though as I didn't have them when I used the gc2 and noted down spin rates. Last time I used it I just did distances.

As others have said, there are many, many factors that can affect this. The most notable are going to be the quality/consistency of your strike, the balls you use and the state of the greens you're playing into. But don't forget things like, dirty club face, unclean grooves, wet ball, sloping green, wind direction, grain of grass, length of grass etc, its endless.

Rule of thumb, the premium balls are going to spin more tahn a cheap one given you hit them both the same. It's just the price you have to pay.

I don't subscribe to wedges being outdated and changing them every so often. Yes, over time the grove edges will smooth out and spin rates might drop, but not enough for you to really notice. A tour pro might, but they can usually call the distance (within 5 yards or so) when they hot shots, they are that consistent. Clicky --> https://youtu.be/NF7EOaeLh2E

My wedges are 9 years old and they still stop the ball fairly quickly, even getting a bit of zip back from time to time. Handicap can also be irrelevant, but is usually a decent way to gauge. When I was off 15, I would argue I was a better ball striker than I am currently off 10. My game improved elsewhere to drop shots.

You want to stop the ball quicker, play a premium ball, its the reason the pro's do. Find clubs that suit your swing, consider a lesson, but more importantly..... PRACTICE!!!

Your distances are very similar to mine, and unless the greens are rock hard I don't have a problem stopping the ball. I remember the last time I went on GC2 though I was getting around 7k rpm spin on pitch shots and around 10k rpm on full shots.
Provided I make good contact and the greens are receptive enough to leave a decent pitch mark, a 50-60yd pitch with a 54° will pretty much stop dead on the 3rd or 4th bounce. A full shot will take a big bounce forward then come back within a few feet of the pitch mark.

Hitting the ball a good distance, dont think swing speed will be an issue. Conditions must contribute. I dont get alot of spin on my greens but i do on the course just down the road.

To be honest, I prefer my wedges once they've aged and the grooves lose their sharpness as it then promotes a more consistent and regular roll. I find it difficult to judge and control the spin on new wedges especially on the fuller approach shots
