Waterproof bag

I bought an Ouul bag a Couple of years ago. It has a slot that drops straight into the bottom of me Motocaddy S3 trolley. I use it throughouy the year. It has been excellent. And is very easy to clean

Personally I think the difference in those examples is obvious, with the last 2 100% not being ‘waterproof’!

I’ve never seen a description with repellent used for golf bags ? but again, it’s not ‘waterproof’.
Yet some walking shops would disagree with you regarding repellant. I do agree however. I was just proving the example of none standard measurement.

YOU think the difference between those descriptions is obvious. However, there is no industry standard so manufacturers have different interpretations. For example, I read somewhere (probably on here) that the cheaper Big Max bags described as merely "water resistant" still have a higher waterproof rating than the Callaway bags sold as "waterproof". So not so obvious after all

If you buy something ‘water resistant’ or ‘showerproof’ and expect it to be ‘waterproof’, then you’re a fool imo.

If you buy something water resistant or showerproof and it turns out to be waterproof, or better than a previous item that was described as waterproof, then that’s simply a bonus, which you shouldn’t have expected.

There are ‘industory standards‘ they’re classed as IP ratings (Ingress Protection), and companies should use them, if they’re confident in their products under the guarantees they offer.

So yes, the descriptions are obvious imo, as you shouldn’t expect any more than the description, and using your example, if the Callaway bag was sold as ‘waterproof’ and failed, it could be returned under warranty, but if you bought the cheaper Big Max bag described as ‘water resistant’ based on hearsay that it was better than the ‘waterproof’ Callaway bag and failed, you’d have no warranty claim, as it’s description is clearly not waterproof!

As the OP reading through these posts. Thanks all. Given the product spec said "fully waterproof" I was hoping it would keep out the rain totally as opposed to resistant/shower proof.. in the short term bought a bag cover from AG which did the job but no zips. I now have at least 4 weeks to research a new bag!

I do sympathise, but the bag is clearly advertised as "water resistant" not "waterproof".

However it also states "keep it dry in all types of weather conditions" which is clearly misleading if it's not waterproof.
Thanks for that. I should have looked at the official Callaway website. The company I used quotes "fully waterproof" in their spec. That is the leg I'm going to stand on. They have been good in the past and been very amicable over this. Hopefully get a refund and look for another option. Cheers

Yeah as I said I do sympathise as I think it's misleading, and if the company you bought it from are advertising it as "fully waterproof" then hopefully you will have a good case.
If they are still advertising it as such, I would get a screenshot as proof before they change it.
