Was I Right or Wrong?

I'm not sure where you go if they say tough and FJ refuse to help further

AFAIK the buyer has the responsibility to get the faulty goods back to the shop. The shop then has the responsibility to get the manufacturer to repair or replace the faulty item.

OP - call the shop you bought them from and explain the situation, maybe they'll arrange carriage as goodwill, maybe not. Until you contact the retailer and find out what they'll do for you everything else is idle speculation and rather pointless.

Dunno how you left it with your pro, but personally I'd go in there, and chat them up a bit...

You quite understand who it's nothing to do with them. But you were visiting your rich old auntie Ethel on her deathbed, and were invited out for a round, but didn't have any shoes, so you had to buy a pair locally, otherwise they would have had your custom, as they always have done in the past 3 years.

Unfortunately the other shop has gone bust, and can do nothing to help you, and FJ told you to go to your local pro who would be able to just return them, it would be such a small favour, and then when you get your new top quality shoes you will definitely make sure that you add to the £2k you've spent with them recently, and are they thinking of doing any special deals on lessons coz you have this problem with a big slice which has suddenly appeared.

And all this on top of poor old autie Ethel passing, and the stress of all the unpaid over time you are doing, and the fact you haven't got any shoes means the kids haven't eaten for three days... ( ok maybe that's a bit OTT , but you see where I'm going ).

If you can break down in tears and roll around the floor sobbing while the pro has a shop full of punters, that will only help galvanise him.

Any Pro with a F/J account should sort it out, all it costs them is a phone call to F/J to arrange a return. F/J then organise and pay for the return of the goods. A few days later the account holder with be informed what the outcome will be. I cannot imagine why a F/J account holder would refuse to sort out the shoes no matter which pro the shoes were originally bought from.

I find it really weird why did Footjoy say to go to your local pro where they confused as to where the purchase was made.

As a retailer I wouldn't have been able to help you either although if I was a stockist I may have called them whilst you were in, so they could explain what they expected me to do
