In mid June a group of friends will be cycling the length of Wales:confused:. I decided to drive along offering support and ferrying luggage for a few days taking the opportunity for a round of golf or two:D. I'm after thoughts on whether my searches have thrown up some sensible options for a couple of keen (but not particularly talented) hackers from London.

We start in Bangor but wont get to play as arriving too late. The first overnight stop en route is in Penmaenpool and between here and Bangor there is http://www.porthmadog-golf-club.co.uk/ which looks fantastic but is hosting the Ladies Welsh Team Championship - Practice Day so I doubt we could get on and also Pwllheli http://clwbgolffpwllheli.com/en/the-course.

Next stop is in Llangurig where a detour en route could take us to Borth http://www.borthgolf.co.uk/cms/ . Or we could play a short course http://dolgellaugolfclub.com/ near the Penmaenpool B&B before driving off for the next stop....

Which is in Brecon could see us play Cradoc http://www.cradoc.co.uk/pages.php/index.html which looks good.

End of the route is in Cardiff and I wasn't too sure of options as it would be a saturday am so probably comps on. http://www.aberdaregolfclub.co.uk/Home.aspx might work

Any thoughts on these? Have I missed some hidden gems?

Cheers RogB

PS Neither of us have handicap certs but play between 90 and 104 most courses so if any of the above are super difficult please let me know - ta.

Hi Rog

Whilst ur up from London u gotta play Nefyn end of lol.

It's on the west coast just further down from Caernarfon ,lovely course with fantastic views,we are playing it again this yr on our annual golf trip u won't be disappoint .....

Also done cycle ride length of Wales last yr,was awful weather and some of the climbs were horrendous so ur pals should keep u entertained with the pain lol

dont know if its near your route but denbigh in North Wales isnt a bad little track. Not overly long but tricky enough and interesting lay out to keep you more than interested. Good course for all abilities id say. First played it when i was learning and went back a year or so ago and played then

Denbigh is a nice course but it's further north than we're they are starting from,if Nefyn is more than u want to pay then Caernarfon is a nice parkland course not far from Bangor

Jeez Connor fair distance to come to learn to play lol

Ahhhh spoilt for choice around north Wales region, sorry Rog doesn't help u much but u could ask ur mates to start abit further north only add extra day cycling lol

Definitely play Borth, it's a really nice, challenging course with good greens, and good views being right next to the sea. It's also relatively cheap, and a has lovely clubhouse for a pint or 5 afterwards

Aberdare is a cracking little track. Really unasuming, relaxed place and cheap as chips.

Every time I've played it, the greens have been immaculate and really quick. Holes run with lots of side slopes, ups and downs, great little place. :)

:whoo:Thanks for the replies folks, just the sort of info I was after ! I think we'll try and add Nefyn in as the scenery looks stunning instead of Pwllheli. Borth can then be our traditional links course and Aberdare for parkland.

Is anybody familiar with Cradoc?

 Roger
