Morning guys, looking for opinions on a couple of Wakefield courses if any of you have played them.

Looking for an inexpensive round so limited to the following:

- Normanton Golf Club - heard mixed reviews
- City of Wakefield - it's a Muni
- Dewsbury District
- Low Laithes, Ossett - 'looks' pretty boring but at £25 I assume it has something?

If any of you have played any of these would appreciate a line or two on them.

:)

Hi Spoff

Normanton golf club is nicely maintained but quite boring, only a couple of interesting holes and the last couple of holes really take it out of you.
City of Wakefield is quite a nice track for a muni and is definately worth a go.
Another one to consider is Hanging Heaton but only a 9 holer
cant help with the other two has have never played them
hope this helps

Meant to be playing Waterton Park in August as qualified for the YEP trophy but doubt will go as is during the week.

Our club played Normanton once, built like barn doors and hit it miles they did, I think we only won one game lol.

Cheers guys, wasn't aware of Hanging Heaton so will add that to the list to have a look at, Waterton Park looks very nice but a tab pricey at the minute.

I think City of Wakefield is probably the favorite.

Thanks both.

Dewsbury is very hilly and you need one leg shorter than the other and a sherpa for some of the holes. The course is usually in good condition but is quite physical.
Low laithes is ok. Some tight holes as it's a bit squeezed together, quite a lot of oob and very quick greens.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Paul - I've only recently joined a gym so I think Dewsbury can wait a few years.

You've confirmed what I thought about Low Laites from what I have seen driving past, doesn't look a lot of space for a course, although the car park always looks rammed!

Hi Spoff
My first choice would be Waterton Park great course was a member there for 2 years (would still be there if it was closer} 2nd City of Wakefield not to be confused with Lupset which is the Wakefield Muni Golf Club 3rd would be Low Laiths played them all good courses and good food at them all,Are you visiting the area ? if so how long are you here fore,if i am off shift you could visit my course Pontefract & District no probs only about £15.00 and vigs course is only 10 mins away from Pontefract
