Golf trip to Ireland or Northern Ireland?

My guess is that the south is more expensive than the north. Is that cobblers or about right?
its 50/50 , luckily for locals if you have the golfing union membership you can get onto a lot of these courses much cheaper, or wait until summer time and play them during their open competitions (open to all as long as you have a handicap).
Royal county down, Portrush etc will be top dollar but there are plenty of other courses in their locality which you could maybe tie into a trip so the overall cost isnt so bad. It was mentioned earlier in this thread though that due to visiting US golfers deciding that anywhere but the most expensive are off limits hence some of the good but not great clubs putting up their prices. Deals are there to be had if you shop around though and are flexible with dates.

I've done this in the past, was better value for money than visitor fees but still not cheap! Was great fun until it absolutely poured down with gale force winds to boot. Only stayed out because one of our guys was doing well. I guess that's not unusual for the location. Great views once it had gone through though (and we were then in the clubhouse).

Its a complete nonsense that you have to look to the top 100 courses to play abroad, or pay extortionate amounts to enjoy some golf. We did an Irish trip last year. Played Kilkenny, Muskerry, Ballyneety and Portlaoise. Average round was around 45 euros. All decent (except maybe Portlaoise, but we still enjoyed it there too).

Would absolutely love an Ireland trip to tick off some of the big ones but prices sound crazy. Maybe one day
Thing is that unlike Scotland (or parts of England), when we're talking links golf, there are very few 'second tier' links courses that are good and affordable. I am seeing that parkland golf is still quite affordable in Ireland.

I live 10 mins from Muskerry, did you like it? Some hillys climbs there.

I have just got back from the annual Ireland trip to see the other halfs family.

Played The Heritage, Wicklow, Woodenbridge, Shannon, Ballykissteen & Bunclody,

The Heritage was a freebie but the others didn't cost more than 50 euros. Took a few pictures and popped them on my IG if you want to see what the courses look like.
