Volvo Matchplay draw is out

I've had issues with logging into the Volvo matchplay website. :D

Anyone else had problems??

I don't even get a password reminder sent to me, then again I don't remember registering in the first place as I was a GM entrant. :D

Yeah. I had difficulties. I had to get a password reminder sent to me twice (I don't remember registering either) before anything other than a blank password arrived. Once a sensible password did appear it wasn't a problem, though.

I've tried the password reminder about 5 times and got nothing back so I've emailed Mike Harris and he's asked the question to Volvo directly and they'll hopefully get back to me...

Managed to get my username and password sorted (many thanks to Mike Harris and Janet Perrett :) ) and have a draw away to The Chase Golf Club, Cannock area.

Never played it but will have to have a reckie mission before my match. :)

Could you not just have phoned Volvo directly. It's not as if Mike's busy, eh?

I've heard it's a tough track too but also a good track so I'm looking forward to it :)

:D :D :D

I think the website was designed by a car mechanic, right enough. It's not exactly user friendly, is it...or at least not idiot friendly (which would include me)

"Let's put the ashtray just where drivers will knock their fags into the footwell when they change into 5th. That'll provide a bit of excitement at 90mph"

Got a home draw against a 23 and a 7 handicapper from Mill Ride. Its a pretty long course so me thinks the 7 is goign to be a bit handy but my secret weapon (Hawkeye) will sort him out.

I thought you were wrapping the game???????

Craw is that you that is the top pairing in the Renfrewshire draw? You off 5 & some other boy off scratch? Reason I ask the name is Crawford & he is out the Old Ranfurly stable also.

Just a thought, should the matchplay be played off yellows or whites?

Macster and I would have to get through the first round to get a home draw but I'd definitely fancy our chances over a longer course.

You're the one shooting 75s these days Homer, I'll take a back seat for this one :D

That wasn't what we discussed. Your the guy getting all the cuts and in the form of your life and I've had one flukey round. I'm quite happy to do my normal thing of hitting it to all parts and then suddenly pop up unannounced when needed. Remember we are unbeaten!

You didnt play with me last Sunday !

If you read the competition rules you'll see that it should be played from "competition" tees. If your club won't allow that then it's yellows.

Playing away against a fellow 5 handicapper at St Annes Old Links which is a tough open qualifier track. As it happens I'm also playing there on Friday in something else so will be making some notes me thinks.

Maybe we'll just see what we turn up with on the day and go with that.

Aye - thats us. Although we are now 1 and 6. Are you in the draw too?

teed off at 17:30....played away at Barkway Park. Lovely course...pretty long at 6926 yds with 5 par 5's. Par 74.
It's in the middle of nowhere about 8 miles south of Royston with lovely views over the hills of Cambridgeshire & North Herts.

Giving away 7 shots to Dave, a smashing bloke, (well he's from Yorkshire, so he would be). It was pretty windy which made it very interesting. Took a bit of a gamble and put in the new 50 & 58 deg MPT11's that arrived earlier. 1st time I hit them was during the match!!

Very close match with only 2 holes max in it at any time. Dave used his shots well and he hit a great ball. He won last years matchplay and got to the final of this years so it was clear it was going to be a tough match.

Dave was a real help with pointing out where the hazards and bunkers etc were. This was particularly useful as I'd downloaded the course but forgot to transfer it to my Skycaddie.... :o :D

In fading light, we ended up going down the last with me 1 up and I managed to secure the last for a 2 up win.

If you're in the area then this course is definitely worth a visit. Made a good friend in Dave and think I talked him into joining the forum and getting involved in some of the meets.

Like I said...top bloke and the match was played in a great spirit. Didn't get home until around 11:30 and got a bit nervous when the fuel reserve light came on miles from anywhere...... never been so pleased to see a 24 hr Tesco!!

Good warm up for my scratch match in the morning at Whipsnade Park.

So on to round 2. Hopefully will end up with a home draw as the 1st to report their result gets home advantage.
