Despite my recent hangups with my game of late I played the first round of a matchplay comp this evening.Oppo was off 18,me off 21 so I had 3 shots(7/8 difference of h/c).Weather was nice,bit breezy.Played some good golf and came out 4&3 up,

How does a handicap work during matchplay ? Is it the hardest stroke index holes where you get your extra shots ?

Yep thats right. I got shots on stroke index 1,2and 3

Good man. I've got a 6 handicap in our singles knockout (we play 3/4 difference) so I get 6 shots. I quite fancy my chances !!

I thought singles matches were now off full allowance, and that it was better ball that was off 3/4. I don't think you can have a local rule on this any more.

Could be wrong tho'.
