So far of the courses I've played. I consider these good value for money. Some cheaper than others, but all worth the money paid out & all are a challenge in one way or another.

There are many More courses I Consider are good value for money, but not as yet played, so cannot as yet claim these are good value. At least not yet.

East Horton at Fair Oak near Southampton are doing £10 a round weekdays at the moment. No temp greens, but mostly off matts this time of year. That's for either of the 2 18 hole courses.

Not as tricky as your club Jezz, for us high h'cappers, but challenging enough with a couple of horrid sloping greens.

Now although not a full 18 holes Brailsford between Derby & Ashbourne is an interesting layout. Essentially 12 holes, some played from different teepoints to play a full 18. There is a cheap midweek day. Can't remember whether its Wednesday or Thursday is at a budget rate, so no need for 2for1 on those days.

Plenty of water in places. Open at times, narrow & tree lined at others.

I played Panshanger Golf Complex (nr welwyn garden city) on saturday, it was £70 for a fourball which we all found very reasonable.

I've got to say i thought the course was pretty awesome. Some tough hills to get up and some blind tee shots but all in all for the money I thought it was excellent value. The first tee shot has an amazing view and i managed to nail my drive straight down the middle.

Hi Jezz,

Walton Hall Golf Club used to be rated as the best Muni in the North West. It gets a lot of traffic and hasn't been in as great nick these last couple of years , however, they have just invested heavily in the greens and drainage and its certainly getting back to it's best. It is a tough test and a bargain at £14 a round

My home club, and I can only say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

At £14 midweek, £18 w/e, it is over-priced. Many shocking greens and often winter greens in use in mid-summer with no reduction in fees, fairways as long as semi-rough, but no semi-rough, just fairway->Rough. Generally untidy, and rounds that invariably take 5 hours to play.

When the title of this thread was "Value", sorry Walton Hall doesn't hit the spot by any definition.

No offence intended, it's all opinions, just can't agree. Walton wouldn't get into the top 50 courses, value or otherwise, that I have played, never mind taking from the whole UK

Got to agree with this one, its only 20 mins away from me and i have played it many times. Everytime I go I come away thinking, I hope its tidy for next time. They keep telling us about the greens but the 1st and second are two of the worst greens I have played on.

Has the potential to be a good course but as it stands it is a little over priced for what it is. Especially when you can play Aldersey green for £10 in the summer after 3pm. That is value for money for sure

Aldersey green golf club. £10 a round after 3pm

Brampton Heath in Northampton is a great track for £20, and if you only have time for 9 holes they'll half the green fees.

Great nick all year round with brilliant drainage, and some nice 'course management' holes to think your way around.

Hi Jezz,

I would go for Blairgowrie either the Rosemount or Landsdowne from November to April they do a great deal of £30 on Rosemount and £25 Landsdowne for Bacon roll and coffee, round of golf and a meal after.

Fantastic value on two great courses.

Wensum Valley Golf & Country Club, near Norwich. Choice of two 18-hole courses; the Valley has a variety of holes through lovely open parkland, the Wensum has been a recent Europro venue so as you would expect is long, with some very testing holes including three alongside or over water and half the course exposed to the wind! Standard GF for either is £30.

I'd recommend either course to anyone.

Best of all if you are wanting a break away or have had to come a long way to play, their BB&G or DBB&G rates are crackin'. Makes the golf very cheap & even better value for money.
