Hi I run our winter league and a situation occurred over the weekend which prompted a discussion over golf bags and their use. One of the players electric trolley gave up so as he passed the club house with 4 holes to go he grabbed a handful of clubs and left the trolley there, as that was easier than pushing a heavy trolley and bag. Most of the banter was in good fun about disqualifying him for not using a bag as most of the golfers were under the impression that was the rule, along with myself. Whilst it didn't really matter if he was DQ'd or not as his score was poor and the competition is quite relaxed, the decision was made to DQ him, however when I looked into it further, I could not find any rule or stipulation that a bag had to used to carry your clubs, I'm sure its in there somewhere but its got me thinking this may be another golfing myth.
Can anybody clarify if that is a rule of golf and ideally point me to the rule?
thanks
