Useless awards / gifts from work

First job back in the day we used to get a frozen turkey every Christmas, useful but not easy to get home when you cycled to work
My project actually did this a couple of years ago. It turned up without warning when we'd already made Christmas plans elsewhere - so we just donated the whole thing to the local foodbank. That happened two years running, but after that point they started asking us what we wanted, so I opted for a hamper of wine instead, and gave them all out as Christmas presents to family. 😄

My daughter and her boyfriend both work for the same company. On year they both got hampers, useless to them as they are both dairy and gluten intolerant. I ate well that year.

I forgot about them! Alstom own our trains. For keeping their fines down by not booking every delay to them and doing their requests for certain stock in depots we used to get hampers at Xmas

That got whittled down to a tin of quality street

Now it's a box of quality street 🤣

Cheapskates .. they can now be booked for every minute they delay

Never been at a place long enough to get anything. Also most places I've worked are now no longer there. The Post Office hangs in grimly, but in my defence I was only there two months. ICI, now AZ, is still going as well, only did four year there so not enough time to bring them down, thank god, otherwise I wouldn't be retired now.

For an outstanding performance. Everyone at Thoresby pit got a mug with uk coal on it. It was given to them In the canteen after a meeting. The lads quickly thought they had been taken for mugs. On the way out of the canteen. Most of the lads accidentally dropped there mugs on the floor with quite some force. Guess who had to clear the mess up when the the lads went underground. 🤬
When Rufford shut we all got a Citizen watch. We called it the £30,000 redundancy watch. Some got £30,000 redundancy. I got a rammel watch.

25 years service award when I worked for Worcestershire County Council was £500 in vouchers or through payroll...

I bowed out at 13 years service and nothing to show for it...

I could write a great policy of rewards at my new place but I'm also in charge of the budget so maybe in 9 years ill look at a very nice package :ROFLMAO:

We get a certificate as well for 20 years, hopefully I'm still there to get mine next year. Not bad for a first "proper" job, after stacking shelves part time.

Got a medal at 15 yrs and a bar to the medal at 30 yrs. All medals are in the bedside table bottom drawer getting tarnished.

Many years back when I was a young Jigger I read the following on a bog wall:

"IF you work hard and do your best you'll get the sack like all the rest,
But, IF you laze and mess about you'll live to see the job right out,
The work is hard, the pay is small, so take your time and sod 'em all,
And on your grave stone neatly lacquered, Not just dead but bloody knackered"

We used to get a cash bonus every five years at my last job. It doubled each time, £200, £400, £800 etc. I left last year about 2 weeks before I was eligible for the £800. I just couldn’t take the 💩 any longer so I left. However, it wasn’t tax free, so I would have “given” almost half of it to the taxman anyway.

Could have a good run ashore with that 🙂

36 years in a couple of weeks time!
i got an email from the CEO last year at 35, which looked suspiciously automatic.

Few years back i got the CEO's annual award , 70,000 person global company.
i got $1000 charitable donation ! (well at least the people dealing with Grenfell hopefully benefitted in some way from it)

otherwise, it's been a good employer !
