If you hit a ball you think maybe lost then choose to play a prov, then you find your ball but deem it unplayable can you then choose to take you prov, on the basis you hit you next shot from the original position

I think the answer is no but just wondered and was looking for calirifaction

Definitely not. As soon as you find the original ball the provisional is out of play. The reason being that the location of your provisional (hopefully on the short stuff) will influence your decision as to how to proceed.

Cheers thought this was the case. I guess the only option would be to not look for your first if you thought you were in real trouble but then you would not be playing a prov
